Air conditioner problems.

My a/c suddenly died yesterday. Was on generator, traveling. The fan made a terrible noise and then didn’t want to restart. Trying several times to get it moving, the fan would make a noise but only blow the air at a whisper. The air it did move was cool. Is there some kind of reset on this or is the fan just gonna have to be replaced?

sounds like the symptoms of a fan bearing gone bad, while the compressor still works just fine

Thank you. That’s what I was thinking.

You think I could replace it myself? Can it be done from inside?

I had to replace mine from the roof, but I don't know if that is true for all makes and models.
