Question Leak in Plastic Pipe from Graywater tank to Gate Valve

Hi, All.

This looks like a quick repair, but I want to make sure I'm using the correct material to effect that repair.

My 2017 Four Winds 26B has a pipe leading from the gray water tank, running across the back end of the coach to the gate valves.Right where the 3" portion of the pipe goes over the flange of the tank itself is where it's leaking. So, right where the smaller-diameter pipe enters the larger flange portion of the tank.

Currently, it looks like there's butyl tape or putty sealing (or in this case, NOT sealing) it. I spoke to Thor support, and the tech said it should be PVC cement -- but as I look at it, I'm starting to think he was talking about where the two pipes join, rather than at the flange. I'm happy to use either (butyl or PVC cement - or some other material), but I want to make sure I'm using the correct stuff.

Any idea what should be used there? See photo... (Assuming that I managed to correctly attach the photo...)

TIA!

Thor uses ABS pipe in their drain systems. ABS, commonly known as "all black stuff, but it is a styrene plastic. It is quite rigid and must less suitable to cracking under stress or freeze damage than PVC. It uses a special green solvent glue to attach the fittings to the pipe. There is no pipe prep required with ABS. No purple stuff required. It has a foam core so it is much quieter than PVC.

No picture in your post. The last guy that had a leaking pipe issue finally broke down and used 3M 5200 and has not complained about it leaking since. So it either worked or he sold the RV.
