Battery maintainer via 12V socket

Hi All

Sorry to start a new thread but I'm not finding what I want with search. Since my converter doesn't maintain the chassis battery on my class C when on shore power (by design according to Thor). I'm looking for a float charger that would run off 110V inside the coach and back feed the chassis battery via the cig lighter socket on the dash? Sounds easy to find but I'm striking out here and on amazon.

Thanks,
Pete

Hmmm. Battery Tender and others don't use the cig lighter, I see. You could wire to the battery with a fuse (in kit ususally) thru the firewall to the SAE 12v plug that's included but it would be too short and need a splice. There are also solar chargers.

And I do need to verify the 12V socket is always on. I'm pretty sure it is.

Hi there Pete , I have a Thor 23U that is plugged in with an adapter so I can use my shore cable to trickle charge house battery with my main battery switch to USE so the battery will get and maintain a charge through the converter. The RV is a 2018 model. I do check the batteries , house and cabe with a hydrometer and check water levels . Hope this helps you.

The issue I have is keeping the chassis battery charged since even on shore power it's not connected in. I can only maintain the chassis battery from the engine alternator or an external charger. Silly setup IMHO but common on Thor's class Cs.

I use the Battery Minder 1500 and the power plug accessory. (cigarette lighter)
Keeps the battery charged and de-sulfates for longer life. and it's small.

What do you think of a small solar panel instead to maintain chassis battery? 10 watt, 15 watt?

i use a black n decker battery tender. it's got a power outlet plug.
https://www.amazon.com/BLACK-DECKER-...s%2C195&sr=8-5

i have a 31E and the chassis does not charge via shore power (by design from thor.) im just curious why thor would design it like that. for what reason?

Deltran does sell a 12-volt power plug connector; so that you can use that plug...

I have a 31L and it charges. I also have an Emer switch on the dash that will cop juice from the house if needed. The generator will charge it too. I guess that's if you're boon docking? It may have something to do with the Use/Store switch, though I can't be sure. I thought I read that somewhere.
