Battery Recommendation-6 volt

Hi All!

Inverter problem solved, but now it looks like my batteries have seen better days. My 4 6 volt batteries are dropping from 12.8 to 11.4 in about 5 hours. Considering the rig came with 2 batteries that were meant to run the residential refrigerator all night, and I upgraded and added 2 more.

Can someone recommend good 6 volt batteries for my 2016 Challenger?

Bill

GC-2 will always be you cheapest in either flooded, VRLA 0r AGM because the numbers made each month. These batteries are made for large current flows, frequent recharging and rough use. Costco or Sams is your best bet, but I buy mine from NAPA (close and they give me a bulk discount).

They also are on just about everybody's short-list.

I installed TWO Full River 6 volt (220 amp) almost a year ago in my Axis and I absolutely love them. So much easier than LA plus they charge quicker and discharge much slower than LA.

They are more pricy being AGM but IMO they are worth it. I purchased from either Battery Depot or Battery Outfitters locally. And when I picked them up I asked for a discount and they gave me 10% off so that made me happy.

One of the main reason I went with Full River was their AGM 6 volts fit under my steps (some other brands would not) with zero mods so that was very important to me. Plus I was able to pick them up locally (and return myself them if I was disappointed).

They are heavy (73# each vs 46# for my OEM batteries) but I was able to install by myself.

I might someday add a couple of more (perhaps if we boondock for a weeks at a time and add solar) but I have limit storage so I hate to take up the compartment next to steps at this point.

Plus these two AGM's give me more than enough reserve power for weekend camping and all day picknicking so currently I dont see any need to add more.

What to install really depends on how you use the coach. Heavy boondocking than spend the money for AGM type high amp capacity batteries. If you more along the lines of an occasional parking lot overnight but spend most of your time away from home at a semi or full service CG then something more budget minded such as Duracell GC2s from Sam's or Costco will work just fine.

I’m looking at the Trojan T125 or the Full Rivers. Best price on both is 140.00. We rarely boondocks but frequently spend nights in Cracker Barrel’s. Once a year we dry camp at an NPS Seashore. So I’m thinking go budget for now and see how it goes.
