Furnace fog in Vegas

I am a MH newbie with no prior experience with LP. We purchased a 2016 Vegas a few months ago from an individual and the unit had received excellent care under his watch.

My question is I have used the furnace twice now and though it heats up just fine I see (or think I see) a thin fog in the cabin after furnace has been running about 20 minutes or so. There is no oder like a BBQing rodent and the LP alarm does not light up or go off. I am concerned from a safety viewpoint as our grandkids will probably want to sleep out there when they visit this weekend and temps get down to 20's at night.

I opened one of the roof vents not specifically for the fog, but seems like a good idea to have fresh air while furnace is running.

Has anyone else experienced this?

If the furnace has never been run before this is normal. It is the oil used in the manufacturing of the unit burning off. It will go away once it has burned the oil off.

Yes, with our '16 Axis.... it will go away after some use. All is good in the end.

Thanks, that is good news. Come to think of it the prior owner was from the south and said he only used it once in the year he owned it, so that fits with yor comments.

So, I assume the oil does not present a health hazard, how many hours to burn it off? Maybe I should let it run awhile before grandkids arrive?

As I recall, ours cleared up after an hour or two usage. I live in SoCal so I wouldn't really know if this added any health hazard to my air. We are still here, no worries. Run it a bit more before the kids show up and ventilate. It will be fine.

Running your furnace on a cold night with the roof vent open, will cause your furnace to run almost constantly, as all that rising warm air goes straight out the open vent.

I have a 2016 Vegas that had the same problem. Took it to the dealer and they pulled it out to find the metal was melting. Manufacturer replaced it no questions asked and no problems with the new one.

Not that I doubt your particular situation but that certainly was not the case with ours and it should not be assumed that all have that melting metal problem.
