HDMI Fishing Trip

The hdmi cable on the television over the door in our Axis 25.2 has to be replaced. I haven't removed the microwave yet to look (packing to leave on trip in the morning) but am curious to know. If I attach a new hdmi cable end to the old hdmi cable end and remove the microwave, do you think I could fish a new cable through along the original path in the wall. Surely Thor would not have secured all the wiring with zip ties. Any experience out there? If not, I'm going to give it shot and see. Maybe I'll take the cable with me and see if I can get in trouble on the road. At least remove the microwave and give the cable a tug.
Thanks all.
Dennis

I have the exact same issue. The end of the HDMI cable broke at the TV end. So far I just run a cable on the outside (Yech!). So, please, make sure and tell me how it goes.

I am not sure what your set up is but we replaced a hdmi cord through a wall and a 90° turn. It wasn't attached to anything but it definitely was a tight fit

Mine is a straight shot from over the entry door into the wall behind the kitchen cabiinets straight across to the microwave cabinet then a 180 back into the cabinet where it connects. I have a few ideas running around in this sick brain of mine and may do a bit of destruction and construction. I will endeavor to persevere!

Just FYI for the future. If you pull a new cable attach an extra string and leave it in the wall for possible use later. Just as easy to pull two as one.

Depending on the trouble involved, have you considered an HDMI transmitter and receiver?

[QUOTE=Wonderdog;93025]Considered it? I don't even know what it is! Teach me!

It would be a wireless transmission of the HD video and sound from the transmitter to a receiver. You hook the HDMI cable out of say your blue ray DVD player or Satellite Receiver into the transmitter, then hook up the receiver into the HDMI input on your TV. It would be like having an invisible cable for the HDMI. I had a Palazzo before and the HDMI cable only ran from the DVD player that was with the BOMB(box of many buttons) to the main TV. The outside TV and Bedroom TV only had coax run to them, therefore were limited. Thus, by using the transmitter and receiver you could get a HD picture on either of the other TVs. You could add a HDMI switch before the transmitter if you also have multiple devices. Before buying check to insure you can draw power on the receivers from the USB port of your TV thus saving having to power the receiver from another power source. If you have power available at the TV will be no problem. I know over on IRV2 several threads on people who have used these and their recommendations on the different choices/brands. Your looking at around $200. Hope it helps.

Hmmm, on ours, Thor ran no HDMI, only coax. I had to have HDMI run to all three TV's as part of the satellite install.
