Smile Brand new unit needs repairs

DH and I just brought home our new Chateau and discovered the kitchen faucet is wobbly and has cracked the counter.
My question is, do we deal with the dealer or go straight to Thor? TIA

Sorry to hear of your disappointing discovery. Unfortunately, these types of quality defects and workmanship are prevalent with the RV industry as you may have noted from this Forum.

I would suggest taking this up with your dealer if they're not too distant, and even if they are; I would let them know what was found. If they're several miles away, I would call Thor customer service and let them know of the problem and see what they suggest about having it repaired. You can take it to a service center of your choosing and have Thor reimburse under warranty.

Hope this helps with your decision.

One point to Larry's reply. Taking the coach to a service center of your choosing requires prior approval from Thor if the service center is not a Thor authorized service center.

If you call Thor, more than likely they will tell you that due to the nature of the repair (cracked countertop) the coach needs to go to an authorized service center for repair. Thor will want the service center to verify the fault. Simple warranty items like seals or drawer locks Thor will often send to you so you can perform the repair without having to go back to the dealer.

First this forum is most helpful !!! Our brand new 2016 Vegas rear-end locked and we almost flipped. The gears were completely destroyed. Ford will put an upgraded rear-end so no problem there. Alignment and OiL Change.

We were also told by Thor that there is an open recall that should have been completed by the dealer as it is a new purchase. Now Thor will repurchase the Rig but we have to be quite about it. I'm am an attorney so that was not an issue and illegal. the repurchase price will be above our negotiated price.

The fit and finish and upgrades on the 2016 are almost perfect so Thor does listen.

Jack, glad to hear all walked away from that mess.

What other open recall is out there? I just completed getting my heater/ac fixed under the Safety Recall notice 15V-530 Safety Advisory: RC000103 dated 01 September 2015 for certain 2016 Vegas/Axis.

Is there a website to go look for Safety Recalls?

Doc

I think that was it . The dealer cannot sell a new unit unless its fixed. We have a 25.1 and they don't make that set up anymore so they asked us if we would take a rebate to keep it. My wife with those sad puppy eyes is killing me.. lol

Mike you guys are right on the money with the comments. We covered every thing when we purchased this rascal.

No doc. I did not agree to the with out liability clause which included a non- disclosure clause.

Jack, thanks for clarification. After several weeks of working on my RV between 3 or 4 corpopations with all the fingerpointing, double talk and BS it gets difficult to recognize truth from fiction.

Yep, doc you speak the truth. The chassis is a E450 did not know that. The will put in a safety bar and anti sway bar in the coach free of charge. The open recall will be preformed and the coach will be back home on Tuesday. My wife Rode Thor and Ford like a angry bear. I really scared to go to sleep. LOL. We are going to keep the rig because we worked hard and saved for it. What ever makes mama happy !!!

Ours too

We had many warranty repairs to be made on our Thor Freedom Elite. The worst and most time-consuming was having the whole drive train replaced. It was done and worked great. Just be sure to get out and use your unit, even if it means camping in your own yard if you can. Use EVERYTHING from ac in the fall to furnace in the summer. You want anything that is not working to be fixed while under the warranty that you paid for.

ANY RV forum! Take a peek at Prevost, Monaco, Newmar, Holiday Rambler, Winnebago, Fleetwood, etc.... forums!

The only difference between the other RV forums and the Thor forums are that they generally paid MUCH more for their RVs, so their frustration level is much higher!
