Propane Tank removal

Greetings All
I have a 2013 Thor Majestic 23a. Went to fill the propane tank for the season and when the fill nozzle was removed gas vented out of the fill valve.
Placed the plastic cap on fill nozzle and moved the rv to a save spot to let the gas vent over time. So I need to remove the tank and take it to a propane dealer and have the fill valve repalced and the tank re-certified.
Got under the vehicle and there are four easy to access bolts. Loosened the nut and assumed the bolts are welded in place. There were not and so the bolt and nuts just spin in place. There seems to be no access panel to get
to the top of the bolts. I did manage to remove one nut by wedging the washer and bolt with pry bar. Took a least an hour and that was the bolt with the easiest access. Any one have any tips.

You probably have a real ASME propane tank and not a DOT certified propane cylinder. If it is an ASME certified tank; then, it never needs to be certified. If the tank is drained, then you can change it yourself or take the coach to a propane tank dealer and have them replace it. Finally you need to have it purged. That is: to add a couple oz of denatured ethyl alcohol and about 1 lb of propane and then vent it down to nearly empty. Purging is necessary as the pressure regulator can freeze under heavy propane usage if all the water vapor is not removed before filling. The air in the tank will not effect the propane system but the moisture in the air will.

I dont see the need to remove the tank. They should be able to replace the valve if accessible.

The tank can be emptied, if it isn’t already, and a new valve installed without removing the tank. Most larger propane dealers can replace the fill valve in about 20 min without any problems.
