Changing Battery

Hi all.

I know this is a stupid question but when changing the coach battery should the use store switch be in the store position. I think it should be in store position.

Thanks

HI RichS. (Raspberry buzzer noise) Nope, it has to be in Use to engage the relay that allows the system to charge the coach batteries, both from the engine alternator or when plugged in to shore power. I think we've all learned that one the hard way.

Oops, I oversimplified it. But Use is valid. There's another thread currently that explains the components better. I couldn't paste the link in while on my phone.

Oops again. I misread. You are changing and not charging? Sorry, my BAD. Then, yes, I'd put it in Store to isolate them. It may not matter with no shore power and the engine or generator not running. Negative first, right?

Thanks. I appreciate the info. Started to make me think when I read the first reply. Sure do learn alot reading these post. One thing I have learned I am keeping my 2016 Freedom Elite 28H. At least I know what I have and what has been done.

Sure, you can put it in STORE or trip the main battery breaker manually, but does it really matter as your chassis battery and car battery don't have USE/STORE switches for when they get replaced.

I am changing the battery. I guess sometimes we over think things.

But I'm still pretty sure that it's better to overthink an issue: than underthink it!

Not so much over or under thinking, reading the post on my phone the "r" and "n" are similar enough my mind went with Use/Store + charging issues. Can't even blame dyslexia for this one.
