Not sure what you're charging? If no 110 volt at campground & no generator in the rv you have NO 110 volt regardless how many dog bone adapters you have. No idea of what equipment you may/may not have. If you do have a generator then fire it up & plug in whatever it is you're trying to charge into any outlet, no adapters required.

Hey Rick!
We have towed a CMax Energi for three years now. Definitely would not recommend plugging it directly into your RV. If you have an additional 30 or 50 amp connection at your campsite then a dogbone or straight adaptor should work for you. We have both a 50 to 30 amp dogbone and a one piece(30A to household) plug adaptor that we carry with us. One or both will work every time to get us to a household connection for the car. Problem may be finding a second receptacle with a separate circuit breaker at your campsite.

Are you guys still towing your cmax energi? I am new to this and want to flat tow my 2013 Cmax energi. Could I bother you to list out what towbar you are using, braking system, light hookups, etc?? I assume that you trickle charge the Cmax battery from the RV?

Also, what do you do to the Cmax when towing, turn on the electronic ignition , put in neutral and go? Do you stop and run the engine occasionally.

We pull our C-Max Energi on a dolly.

When pulling 4-down, check the owner's manual Here (pdf), page 192:

Vehicles with Push Button Start
1. Start the vehicle by pressing the brake
pedal, and then pressing the ENGINE
START/STOP button until the vehicle
starts.
2. Press the brake pedal and shift the
transmission into position N.
3. Turn the vehicle off by pressing the
ENGINE START/STOP button once.
(Trip Summary appears in the left
instrument cluster screen when the
vehicle is off.)
Note: You can remove the key fob from the
vehicle while towing.

As for charging on 120V plugging into the side of the RV: I've only done that once and it was with my Focus Electric--I was using it to exercise the generator. The 120V charge cable (called an EVSE) will only draw up to 12 amps. You probably can use that plug for short periods of time but I wouldn't use it on a regular basis.

I picked up a Clipper Creek LCS-20p with an L6-30 plug and made an adapter for the 50a plug at campgrounds. (Looks like now they have a version that will plug directly into the campground 50a plug.)


The LCS-25p will charge the car about twice as fast as the 120V EVSE.

Anybody here a member of a CMax forum?
We towed our CMax hybrid a little over 13K miles with NO problems from early 2013 to Oct. 2016.

some very good.

To avoid a lot of the early problems.
I installed a charge wire from the mh to keep the 12v battery charged,
used a Blue Ox Patriot brake system (works on hybrids), Blue Ox baseplate with a Roadmaster tow bar
and installed extra lights in the CMax taillights (plenty of room) NO cutting the Cmax wires.

Hopefully the OP will be able to charge the energi off of a 15amp outlet at the power pole.
