Cleaning

Seems like I'm getting to dislike scrubbing and cleaning all the bug guts off the front of the camper and front of the truck more all the time!
We put on about 1300 mi. each way on the last trip. Coming home through SD and MN. was the worst. Temperature was up in the high 90s to 100, and it seem like the bugs were out with a vengeance. All intent on committing suicide on the front of my rig, and I think most if not all achieved their goal.

Lloyd,
Don't know if you've had the pleasure of experiencing our "Love Bugs" down here in Texas, but when they swarm (usually May & September), they can cover the front of the RV and TV. If left on, their little dead bodies are acidic and will eat the paint off. Hard as the dickens to get off, too!!!

Paul

Hey Paul, good to hear from you.
No, I haven't had the pleasure? of experiencing your TX. love bugs. In fact I've never heard of them.

Would have thought that there would not be that many left. I thought I had collected and washed off at least 90% of their population in the 9 months we stayed down in Crockett, TX. Went for several weeks where if I drove one one of vehicles, I had to wash the front end daily. Did't develop much of a love for lady bugs or the mosquitoes either.

Hey Lloyd Hoover will send you some if you want. I now use a bug sponge with Joy and that will take them off fairly easy. Used to use Bounce

Frank, it's about time you came out of hiding. What have you been up to? Got the new Redwood ordered?
What's Hoover going to send me, a bug sponge with joy, (who)?

Nope had the Cruiser out all last week going to keep it. Why would I want to go through all of that braking in period on a new unit. It looks as if CrossRoads is not the only one having quality problems. Hoover says he will put some of those love bugs in a jar for you, and get some liquid Joy to give to you the next time we see you

I did hear a tip that before leaving on a trip to spray PAM on the front grille area. It is supposed to keep bugs from sticking - or at least as much.

I have not tried it, but I'd try anything like this once...

I am sure you would not want to apply it to the windshield though.

I remember years ago of spraying pam on the front of our tt. I did it once, never again. The front end looked like it had been in a dust bowl.

I use damp fabric softener sheets. It does a good job of taking the bugs off. I also use it on the front of my truck. Be sure and rinse the area or wipe it with a damp cloth so as not to leave any residue.

Stay out of Florida too! I try to wait until the morning and wet them before sun letting them soften, or if i can a rainy night then are nice and soft. I also wax the nose a few times a year. Hope it helps with a pain in the butt job.
