I wet the Awning with water spray a degreaser Like 409 roll it back up leave it for about 20 minutes unravel it, and wash it off, let it dry and you are good to go

I just went to the PA RV show and asked this same question. They said to use a bathroom cleaner (non bleach) and spray the underside and roll it up for 20-30 minutes.

Same procedure, but use Simple Green, it smells better than the bathroom cleaner.

CAMCO makes an awning cleaner available at Amazon and WalMart.

We use 409, doesn't leave streaks on the camper if over sprayed.

The Dometic awning on my prior Class C used this procedure using a mixture of 1/4 cup bleach to 1 gallon of water.

Place the mixture in a pump sprayer and then open the awning. Spray the mixture on the underside of the awning being careful to not let the mixture get into your eyes.

Roll up the awning and let it sit for 15 to 20 minutes.

Open the awning and rinse well. Repeat if necessary.

I used this on the Challenger a few weeks ago and it worked well.

Bleach is great, especially if their is mold, which is common. Do be careful with the bleach, if the concentration is to high it will eat the fabric over a period of time.

The bleach didn't work so well for us. We followed the instructions in the owners manual to use bleach with a sprayer, roll up for 20 minutes, unroll and rinse well. It turned the brown stripes purple. DW wasn't very happy.

Personally I don't use bleach on anything but laundry. Had a guy wash our 5er while we were away & when we returned a few hours later it smelled like he used pure bleach & a,week later all the decals began to curl up.
