Slide lube

How do you lubricate the slide on a 2018 Windsport 29m and what is the best lube to use?

The video link was posted in 2014. According to some gurus on this forum, recent recommendations have been to NOT lubricate slides. There seems to be mixed opinions on this issue. I would call the manufacturer's CS and see what their latest guidelines are. Post here what you find out from them. My dealer told me (3/18) to NOT lubricate them as this caused less friction/grip/traction on the gear bars and could result in slippage. He also stated lubrication will cause dirt and dust to accumulate causing excessive wear. Most important thing is examine them when fully extended and keep an eye out for metal shavings or unusual "wear spots" on the gear bar.

I THINK that the CRC with PTFE doesn't adhere dirt, etc. WD40 is the culprit as it is intended to "loosen".

Gary...you are right...somewhere along the line WD40 became the "lube everything" tonic. It isn't intended to lube, but as you say..loosen things.

Slide lube

Watch the video closely. He’s lubing the bearings in the gear not the slide tracks. That would truly be a bad thing.

I've called LCI twice about this. First time was told no lube second time yes lube. So calling them really isn't a help. I lube but as stated above I only lube the gear/ bearing

If i was certain the bearings were sealed bearing I wouldn't worry about lubricating them but since I haven't seen the bearings I'll continue to lube them.
