E 450 stabilization

Trying to take the bounce out when parked. I bought four 6500lb screw jacks.

Anything I should be aware of other than catching a wire or line with them?

Plan is to take some weight off of each spring. Maybe level by an inch or two but most of the weight will still be on the tires.

I tried this with just two in the rear in the fall and still got an unacceptable amount of bounce. I was surprised they didn't take more out. I am hoping the fronts were still compressing so this will, take care of it.

I can't imagine I need to worry about frame bending as long as I stay on the large frame sections!

When I had my Class C, I too used the jacks. I found that with all four I still would get some bounce. Never did solve the problem completely, but they did help with the bounce about 75%. I did use my drill, which made it much faster to use.

I have some scissor jacks on our Axis (E-350):

The amount of bouncing reduction seems to be related to how tight you can get them. The more weight removed from the springs and transferred to the jacks the less bounce you get.

I put them on late last summer and only have been camping with them once. For that trip they did reduce the shaking of the unit caused by people tossing and turning in their sleep.

On my prior class C I had three of them that came from the factory with the coach. There were 2 positioned about 3 feet behind the rear axle and 1 on a cross member in front of the front axle.

I found that with them down there was still some bounce when walking but no noticeable bounce when someone was tossing and turning bed. We did still have a noticeable shake or bounce in high wind conditions. Due to the weight of the coach and limitations of the screw jacks they could not be used for any type of leveling (minor or major). I still had to level the coach before using the jacks for stabilization.

Another note is the jacks require maintenance after every trip to ensure the screws are clean and lubricated. They do pick up quite a bit of road grime, especially the rear jacks.

IIRC, now that you mention it, I have not noticed any bounce or much movement at all since installing HD sway bars front and rear, and also magnum gas shocks. Only problem though is the exh. pipe near the rear shocks had to be moved a little and re-welded.
