Ice Maker Issues

Hello,
We have a 2013 Tuscany 45LT with a residential Maytag/Whirlpool fridge. Water is collecting in the ice bin and freezing along with the ice cubes. I’m thinking it may be an issue with the ice defrost function. I want to be sure it’s an ice maker issue before purchasing another.

We are also getting water freezing below the freezer drawer which I believe the defrost tube is clogged with gunk or ice. I can’t fix that issue as we are not in a place we can transfer contents and turn off the fridge. Thanks for any help!
I think I’ve attached a picture (if it works) of the frozen water and cubes.

This article addresses most issues causing this...either the "flow timer valve" needs adjusting down a bit, valve itself has gone bad or the water pressure coming in is too low. Check the specifics of your model and call the CS number available for it. Doesn't sound like an expensive repair.

Yep, I agree. The cube tray is overfilling. If you have a small cube setting (my old Kenmore did), try that. If not, there should be a timer setting for the water fill.

We had a problem with an old home fridge with a "through the door" ice dispenser. The flap in the discharge chute wouldn't close, allowing room air to get to the ice bin, thawing things just enough that the whole bin would freeze up.

Thanks

Thanks for all the comments and the article. I’ve dialed down the cube size and it’s not overfilling the tray. The fill time is a constant 6 seconds. Still freezing in the bottom of the tray. I’m now going to check the fill tube whic may be diverting some of the water down the back corner of the tray. Thanks again for all the help! Merry Christmas!
