Electrical Problems

I installed two new coach batteries and a new starter battery. I managed to connect the coach batteries wrong and blew something. Now I have no battery power at all. I have shore power. I am in Meadville, PA with nothing close by. Any suggestions as to what to check? Thanks

You blew the master fuses in your converter panel. Start there.

What nosticks said is probably true. Check the two large "Reverse Polarity" fuses in your fus panel. Since you have no 12 VDC you probably also tripped your main DC circuit breaker from the battery that looks like:

And is probably near your batteries: push the flag back in.

Finally, don't forget to put the USE/STORE switch to USE once you resolve the other issues.

Does anyone know where this switch is located on a 2017 Freedom Elite 30fe? Iíve looked under the bed, in the seat compartments, around the battery compartment, and in all the cabinets with no luck. We have the same problem after installing new house batteries.

Within 6" of the battery. May look much different. There are many kinds.

Did you find the reverse polarity fuses?

We put two batteries where there used to be just one. This month we had them tested and they are good batteries. When plugged into shore power the battery meter on the wall says full. About 20 minutes after unplugging, with nothing turned on in the coach the meter drops to ďEĒ. I thought going from one battery to two might have caused it.

They are on the converter. Two maybe three 30 or 40 amp fuses off by themselves. Marked "reverse polarity".

Main resetable fuse is within 6' of the battery.

I found the reverse polarity fuses. They were fine. Iíll keep looking for the main resettable fuse.

First off, the battery indicator on the wall is worthless to determine the state of charge in your batteries. It is there for entertainment purposes only. However what you are describing is your batteries won't hold anything more than a surface charge meaning they are most likely the problem. Check them with a volt meter about 15 minutes or so after you unplug . 12.7v would be a good reading. If they are closer to or under 12v, you have a battery problem.

Even a cheep volt meter for $10 will help you to trouble shoot the many problems you will encounter as time goes on.

Welcome to the forum Azdave. Since you started this thread, have you had any success with the two responses (#2, #3), suggesting what your problem might be? Let the forum know if you made any progress.
