Electrical Question Part 2

My original problem of my Vegas being able to start with the chassis battery disconnected has been solved.
The cause was a Trombetta that was stuck in the closed position.

Today I found that my problem had returned but since I had a functioning Trombetta I was able to trace the problem to a trigger wire on the Trombetta that was live with the vehicle off and the chassis battery disconnected.

The wire is yellow with a black tracer . None of the schematics I have show any of this wiring in detail but I was able to find a generic schematic online.

That schematic shows that the components involved are the BIRD and the emergency start switch.
The BIRD has a wire labeled as "relay coil" , that wire is not yellow with a black tracer but the wire at the emergency start switch is. The switch functions in that it clicks but I will have to check it with a meter to confirm that it is not stuck.
I would imagine that if the switch tests good then the BIRD is my problem ??
Is there any way to test the BIRD ?
For $111.00 I would like to confirm that it's bad before buying one.

I would think its pretty easy to test the BIRD. Just apply 13+ V to either input and see if the coil energizes after 2 or so minutes (of course see that the coil isn't energized to begin with).

I know there has been a lot of discussion about the trombetta/BIRD circuit on here (one thread comes to mind that is pages long--perhaps someone involved can find that thread and post a link here).
