Improvement.

Just spent a worthwhile afternoon changing all the steel screws on the rear of my 25.2 for nice stainless steel ones, the ones for the rear lights were really bad. It always surprises me that makers don't offer this as an option. No rusty screws, no stains, and any aluminium isn't going to react with the steel and corrode. Got the stainless screws from a yacht chandlers, easy and cheap.

Good job,

Yep, thats on my list of improvements. I was going to remove the entire assembly and use the flex seal to make the area inside water tight (or at least try to prevent damage from water). Did you look behind and check out the wood for damage?

I might also upgrade to LED bulbs - still looking - too many to pick from.

Yes, indeed, I did check for damp and there was some. Luckily, not soaking and it dried out in the sun after an hour. I used a sealant around the fitting before screwing it back, the original screws really were very rusty and were hard to remove from the fitting, I'd advise any one to check and replace the screws with ss' steel ones. I did the whole back end including the camera mount and the slide topper bracket screws, looks much better too.

These are what I replaced mine with. You can order them for a Thor unit so you plug them in directly to the factory wiring. I used butyl rubber sealing tape around the edges instead of the foam sponge gasket, ss screws with rubber O-rings and finally used RV Flex sealer around the edges. So far, no moisture is getting in. The old ones had moisture but no rotting of the wood and of course, broken rusty screws.
