Full wall slideout issue

Had my 31W in my driveway to do some cleaning. Leveled and extended the slideout without issue. Went to retract the slideout, but the forward motor did not work. I read the codes as a wiring issue on the front motor (1 grn, 8 red). I needed to move the coach, so i read that disconnecting the wiring harness to both motors disengages the locks and allows the wall to be manually retracted. Well, 5 of us could not budge it! Any advise would be welcome!

This story does have a "happy ending".. located the motor and noticed that the wiring harness became disconnected.

I would, however, like to know how to move the slideout in the event of power loss, etc.

Thanks all!

I seem to recall seeing a youtube video about having to pull the motors loose from the "racks" that they do the moving with.
Just make sure to replace them: that's what holds things in place!

Glad to see that you found and fixed the problem!

Disconnecting the plugs removes the electrical lock but does notheing to help you overcome the physical disadvantage of try to spin 300:1 or 500:1 ratio motors on the slide tracks. Although theoretically possible to supply a sufficient force over a long enough period to get the slides in, it is better to just disengage the motors themselves from the trackbar gear and then push it in.

Sounds like the voice of experience. The small bedroom slides can be muscled in, but it does take some force with the motors engaged but the brakes off. If it is a triple track large slide (with 500:1 gear reduction) I doubt it could be moved without disengaging the motors from the drive gears. If the slide is against an interior wall, the trim must be removed to get to the motors. Bedroom slide trims are the hardest, as there are several sections of wood with hidden screws and pin nails. It is one of those times when it takes four hours to take the trim off and 20 minutes to put it back on (if you have the right tools).
