Generator Repair
I started a new thread to make sure everyone that is interested sees this.
I had mice make a home in my generator They packed it so tight with nesting material the generator had to be removed and disassembled to clean it out. Total cost of repair was in excess of $1700, performed by Cummins.
They did a great job and it is as if it never happened, other than the $1700.
The good news is I called my insurer, Farm Bureau, and it was covered other than the $500 deductible. I will receive a check for $1200 within 2 days. Yay!!!
My extended warranty wouldn't cover it...no surprise there.
Farm Bureau said the mice didn't chew any wires and the unit shut down due to over revving (thus the error code). So even though the mice may have created the situation that led to the need of repair, they didn't directly cause the damage.
I mention all this so if anyone else has this kind of an issue, it may be worth a call to your RV insurance company.
