I was just thinking about this project the other day. I adjusted the licks for a snugger fit but though a seal would help keep the pieces from rubbing together.

Thats great. I havent noticed any rattling on mine but I will check.

I see you have an air horn.

Which one did you purchase? Do you like it? I thought about adding one to mine but there are so many to choose from. I want that deep loud sound (like a train) and most of the cheaper air horns were smaller than your and didnt sound that good (on line sample - so its hard to tell).

As usual, I did another insane but amazing mod to my Vegas. haha.

The Vegas has the stupidest hood design I've ever seen. My '18 opened up, I think the older ones opened down? Either way is retarded. The only way you can get to anything under the hood is to scrunch down between the hood and the body. Absolutely useless.

So I took the hood off, took the hinges off and threw them away. lol. I fiberglassed two 3/8" pins into the bottom edge of the hood and drilled two holes in the bottom edge of the front cap. I filled the holes with fiberglass and painted to match. Now when I need to work under the hood, I simply unlock the two hood locks on the top and lift the entire hood off. It's super light, I can lift it off with one hand easily.

The other awesome side benefit of not having the hood hinged upwards or downwards? With the hood completely off, you can stand on the frame crossmember and clean the windshield! Another one of my favorite mods to this Vegas. And yeah, it was loose and rattled stock. With the pins in the bottom and locks at the top, it's stronger and more solidly mounted than stock.

I want to see pictures of this.. (just the hood--no need to see your feet on the frame )

Same here and print the color code of the paint you used for touch up. Interesting.

I just did this yesterday not because I could hear it rattling but because I could see the results of it rattling: In several spots you can see that our hood has worn through the gelcoat and the underlying fiberglass is exposed.

Used the exact same weatherseal material from Lowes.

Just upgraded ours today. Love it when a project works out this easily. Found the exact same weatherstripping at Home Depot. Cleaned the fiberglass with an alcohol swab and the adhesive tape on weatherstripping stuck like glue!

Thanks Revjefferey for the great mod idea.

After winterizing and my outdoor shower compartment was filthy. (I know super huge issue) I found a way to use up the small piece of weather strip leftover, I used for the grill.Click image for larger version
