Removing light covers over bed, etc

Hi all,
Anyone know the trick to removing the light fixture covers like these? They don't seem to twist off. The ones above the bed are right in our eyes (had they put them 5" back toward the window this wouldn't be a problem - Thor are you listening) when we are reading. I want to paint half the cover so they don't shine right in our eyes. They'll still have plenty of light for reading in bed.

The covers simply snap on and off.
Our daughter placed opaque window film disks/donuts in hers to create a glowing ring at the edges. Light is muted and no longer glaring.

like was said, they snap / pop off. I installed dimmer switches. much better with dimmer switches.

pull straight down. I replaced the bulbs in my 32 keystone Sprinterwith 3500K leds. Love em.
