Stuck latch on propane access door

Good morning Thor Community. Thank you in advance for your replies.

My propane access door latch is inoperable. The latch handle will open about halfway, but never feels like it is engaging the latch pin mechanism. In other words, the handle is "flopping" loosely for about a 45 degree rotation. It simply will not go further. I've tried pushing in the door to relieve the pressure off the latch pin and i've applied quite a bit of muscle when attempting. No success. I don't think this is a simple friction issue.

Being the propane access door - there is no way to get to the compartment from another bay and there is no lock on this lath handle.

I've read an older thread that does not seem to have the same characteristics because of the particular door that is stuck. If I"ve missed something, my apologies for asking someone to repeat their solution. Again, many thanks!

The locking tab that is held on the back of the threaded lock assembly (held in place with a nut) may be loose and causing the tab to slip out of the "keyway". Is it possible to reach from underneath the coach, up to the backside of the locking assembly and check if that nut has backed off a little?

On my 37ND it looks like you can remove the door from the compartment next door (storage not battery) and get access to the door latch. Although there is no floor in the LP compartment the latch is covered by the door. Removing the other door may allow accessing the latch from the side.

Great idea Dave. Moving our bus back to the bay lot this morning, but will check it out once we arrive. Since we have the same bus - will be good to set up a direct communication. How have your house batteries held up? Looks like mine need to be replaced. thanks much! Lee

No issues with the house batteries. In Feb I had to replace the coach battery because it had a crack on the top. Dealer found it during the annual service and safety inspection. Also, I PM'd you my email address to establish a direct link.
