House battery charging

My question is: would plugging my motorhome in to a Honda 1000w generator charge my house batteries? Is this a big enough generator to do the job? I have a 2018 Thor, Freedom Elite 24HE. Thank you

Your WFCO converter is three stage and supplies a max of 55 amps (55 x13.5 = 742 watts) to the batteries, if the batteries a significantly discharged (bulk charging). That figures to about 7 amps @ 120 volts (840 watts). Typically, I see 4 amps max @ 120 volts (480 watts) when charging the batteries after running the fridge and ice maker for a day (absorption charge). The size of the battery bank (in ah) and the type of batteries (flooded, AGM, gel) will effect the absorption amperage but not the bulk charge amperage since the bulk charging amperage is the max the converter can supply.

The short answer is "Yes" it will charge your batteries fine using the AC side of the generator. But if your batteries are very low you may need to switch your fridge to gas for a while when you first connect.

Thank you all for the answers. I am looking for a quiet way to charge the batteries. The generator that Thor installed is so loud that you cannot be within 100’ of it while it is running.

Can you just plug into a "regular" outlet?
If you get an adapter puck: it's about the easiest thing to do...

I was thinking of using the regular shore power cord. Adapt to U-ground and let it work off of the converter. I have also added a 12volt outlet in an outdoor storage bin. I could probably hook it up there.

Yep, makes sense.

The 1000 watt generator? Even if it has a DC charging connection it's probably less than 8 amps DC.

Oh, I never thought of that. I will have to look at the specs on it. Thanks
