Maxxair Vent Fan Question

My RV sits in my backyard hooked up to 15 amps. For the past year, I have let the fans (fore and aft) run 24 hours a day and a window open on the shade side. I am hoping to keep the air circulating through the RV.

Is it OK to leave the ceiling vent fans running 24/7?

i have no idea really, but my gut tells me they aren't really designed for continuous duty.... I'm guessing the motors will fail sooner than "design intent".... but if it works for you!

I personally don't think it's necessary to run them, unless you're going in it and you just want to keep it cooler. I'd probably only turn them on when I wanted to use the rv.

If you have MaxxAir covers on your vents, just leaving the vents open is sufficient enough to keep the RV from suffocating. Running the fans 24 X 7 will most likely shorten its life. If you have jalousie windows, keeping one or two open will also help and not let any rain in and bugs if they are screened. Cooling the coach down before a trip I usually run the roof AC's for several hours prior. During winter storage, I also leave the roof vents open.

I just heard back from Airxcel:

They should be fine to run like this. Life expectancy has never been determined, but from conversations I’ve had with customers, they tend to last a good many years.

I don't think they are rated for anything near continuous duty. I have two of the kind with the auto rising vent and remote control. After 2-3 days of continuous use they start to squeak and it is annoying. If I leave them off for a good while, they stop the next time I start them up, but eventually start doing it again.

Something seems to need to be oiled, but I have not started tearing them down to figure out what. going to guess a shot of silicone lube on the motor shaft will help.

John, I don't have this issue, no squeak! I did turn them off while waiting for the manufacturer to get back to me. But I have run them almost continuously for the last year.
