Just a note, on problems with the levers working, check to make sure the reservoir
has enough oil in it to work. It uses auto transmission fluid (ATF).

An important note on the fluid level, check it with the leveling jacks raised. If you add fluid when the jacks are down be prepared for the oil bath when they are raised and the reservoir overflows..

Yes Dave, when I had the problem with my levers they were down and the reservoir
was at about 1/3 and when I finally got them raised it went to 1/2, but there was oil
on the metal floor below the pump so I have to assume I have a leak.

Thor 30.1 Leveling questions (2)

Almost 2 weeks ago, arrived and leveled RV no problems (Auto).
Jacks started making banging/creaking noises, so I thought to re-level.
Jacks retracted fine, but when re-leveling the rear passenger side jack stopped about 1" away from contact and the control panel shows 3 flashing lights - Left, Right and LCI (in center). I can put extra wood under the rear jacks and Auto will finish, but front wheels are off the ground. That's the Auto problem.

Now the Manual question. I have the RV leveled now using Manual, but I never lowered the rear passenger side jack. So I have 3 down and 1 up. Question is - does that matter? or should I manually drop the rear until contact, then level it?

Kinda rambling I know, but just curious if anybody had any suggestions.

Thanks,
Bob

Without all 4 down you loose the stabilizing effect.

Yeah, I thought so. I went ahead and manually lowered the rear 'til contact and then re-leveled. Worked fine.

Thanks

On my Challenger power to the jacks comes through a 100 Amp breaker which is to the left of the house batteries. In the attach photo the breaker is the middle red dot to the left of the batteries. The black lead coming up at an angle off the left side of the breaker runs about 3 feet and is attached to the leveling jacks motor/pump unit. My jack motor and pump are in the same compartment as the house batteries. The hydraulic jack reservoir is visible in the lower left corner of the photo.

I thought you had to be on generator or shore power to use jacks because they draw so much current.

They run on 12v so need to be connected to one of the battery systems.
They do draw significant current, so some alternate power source helps avoid a 'low voltage' warning.

I typically leave engine running (battery banks linked by BIRD/Trombetta), but shore power/Genny would work as well.

I get the low voltage error unless the engine is running. No problem since I started operating jacks with it running.

What manufacturer made your leveling system?

With our rig: the engine has to be running, and the parking brake must be engaged...

Lippert (LCI) which is what most of the gas Thors have. Here’s a link to the manual if you need it:
