Lippert Hydraulic Pump Leaks

Lippert Hydraulic Pump Model: 196471
RV Model: Thor Hurricane 31S
Year: 2017

The Lippert Hydraulic pump is leaking. I am still trying to find the exact location of the leak but I suspect it is leaking at the O Ring between the pump assembly and the hydraulic reservoir tank. The levelling system is working as designed.

I spoke with Lippert technical support to find the part number or size of the O-Ring. Lippert was unable to provide ANY information regarding the parts for the pump and stated that I should just replace the pump. In my world, spending $1500 for a pump due to a $3 dollar O-Ring failure is not the correct answer.

My question is this... Can anyone point me to a reference for the O-Ring, or a maintenance diagram for the pump or any other information that would prove useful in fixing this leak. I prefer not to start repair without some information.

Thanks

I noted that you have no responses on this very important problem. While I cannot provide a solution for you, this issue and also leaking hydraulic jacks could affect many of us with Lippert hydraulic jack levelling systems. Of course they would like us to buy a completely new part instead of building and selling us basic seal repair kits for their systems......profit. Of course the more Lippert's parent company buys up their competitors (Kwikee Step and Power Equipment as examples) the less options buyers will have. There are a few hydraulic companies out there (based on google searches) that, given enough demand, may come up with kits for Lippert customers being hosed. Unfortunately that does not help your immediate issues. The only suggestion I can make is perhaps a local hydraulic repair can check the pump and determine if some standard o ring will repair your unit. Please let us know if you are able to come up with a cost effective solution for your problem as it could save us from future gouging.

Three weeks ago the pump on our Chateau started giving us problems. I took the rig to a repair shop and they determined the pump was losing pressure – no visible leaks.

To make a long story short our tech asked if there was a rebuild kit, but, according to Lippert, there is no repair or rebuild kit for these pumps, you have to replace the pump. You get the pump and reservoir as one unit and a new controller (The brain).

Hello, saw where you were looking for an o-ring for your pump resevoir. Check out PJparts.com. Tpe in o-ring for kti pump resevoir, I believe this is the o-ring you are looking for. Worth a shot anyway, stumbled upon this when I had the same issue with mine. The manufacturer pinched the o-ring during installation and it would leak while driving down the road and make a mess. Good luck

Looks like I have the same issue possible O-ring at the tank area did the same thing you did called Lippert course they want sell the pump can you write $1500. So I am going to go check it out more and possibly give this company a call. Will let everyone know what happens.
