Lockable Gas Cap Ford V10 Triton Chassis

Still looking for a lockable gas cap. Went to Autozone yesterday and no luck. Went to the Ford Dealership as well yesterday and no luck. I even had pictures of the gas cap on my smart phone to show but no avail. Looks like an internet search is in store today.

Any suggestions would be appreciated

Ed

I think I finally found one. Several people have stated that the STANT lockable Fuel Cap is the solution. I've looked at a bunch of these online and went ahead and ordered the closest one relative to the space and threading. If it doesn't work I just threw $20 bucks out the window. Should be getting it in this week.

I don't know about caps for MHs, but I know of a few people that have picked up a lockable cap for their cars at O'Rielly's.

Lockable Gas Cap

Since we have an HOA that restricts storing RV's on our property we have it stored down the road. I guess if I trusted people more I wouldn't worry about it much but having a locking gas cap at least makes them having to work a bit harder if they want it bad enough.

On the way home from work, I stopped by NAPA auto parts, and the clerk did a search for me finding a locking gas cap that fits 2013 Ford V10 Triton chassis, and said he doubts the 2014 models are any different, in regards to the gas caps.
SO I bought it and it fits perfect! It is a NAPA fuel cap part # 703-1723. Hope this helps!

Excellent to hear Tony. I haven't tried Napa yet but did try Autozone and eve the Ford dealership here in town and with no avail. At least now we have a back up in case mine doesn't work after I get it in today.

Yes, amazingly the Ford dealership did not offer locking gas caps for this model, and the parts guy is the one who told me to go to an after-market parts supply. 80 gallons of fuel is an investment worth the 20 bucks, when your rig is in a RV storage yard not under surveillance .
Happy Travels, Tony

Good News and bad news. Good News is the new Gas cap works!! Stant 1058. Bad news is I tried to put the safety ring on it and it fell apart in the process. I'm hoping that's just a flaw in the part so I sent it back and ordered another one. I don't think I'll try to put the factory safety ring on it this time.

Thanks, Tony for sharing this information. I bought the cap you mentioned from Amazon for just over $12 (versus almost $19 from Napa) and it worked perfectly. I have to say that the cap is really flimsy. It fell apart as we were trying to screw it in, but I was able to put it back together in a few minutes and it worked as promised.

Ford does carry one, unfortunately the problem is that most of the parts people haven't a clue when it comes to the F-53 chassis. I noticed that the cap on my prior unit looked almost exactly like the one off my F-150. I took it off the truck, put it on the RV and it worked perfect. Went to Ford, bought a locking cap for an '05 F-150. I kept the cap when I traded for the Thor 34XD and it works just fine. Beware, Ford thinks they are made of Gold and price it accordingly. IIRC, I paid around $45 for it.

I was thinking about adding a locking cap to mine, and researched it on amazon. Plenty of choices came up.....
I still have it on my to-do list but just not a high priority at the moment.... Sort of cringing at the idea of one more key to keep up with.
Good to know which ones work though!

Just purchased one from NAPA on the way home. Just to let others know it doesn't fit on a 2016 Vegas 25.2.

Don't understand that
The 2016 Vegas's are all on the same E450 chassis aren't they?
If so NAPA's 703-1723 fits on mine and should have fit yours
Sorry
