Main Entry Door Strut Ball Stud Loose and Bent

We are here in windy New Mexico and had an issue where my daughter opened the main door, the wind caught it and it slammed open. The strut popped off of the ball stud is loose and bent at a 45 degree angle now. I was able to reaffix the strut back on the ball, but I'm concerned that it will slip off easier than ever. On the Miramar, with the door all the way open, I believe that if it opens all the way it could break a window. This does not surprise me that this happened, we have attempted to be careful as possible with the door but things happen.

I'm not sure how to get to the stud as I couldn't get the plate off or at least didn't want force pulling it off.

Has this happened to anyone else? I'm curious what did you all do to remedy this?

There is another thread on this forum discussing the same issue. I took my strut off a year ago and put a bump stop on the side of the RV...I love it. Check it out on the other thread.
