Generator and cold weather

Have a 2017 Chateau 22B. Generator Onon 4000 runs but cabin load doesn't transfer over in weather below freezing. It does appear to transfer over in above freezing weather. Anybody have similar issues and is it the generator or the transfer switch. Cummings claims they can't duplicate the issue. Any hints on how to troubleshoot?

Are you trying to transfer the load while hooked up to shore power? Or just getting into the RV and cranking up the genny?

If Cummins is saying the genny is good, meaning its putting out power and works above freezing, then I would suggest your transfer switch is sticking.

Have had that happen to us on occasion. Although it was not temperature dependent.

Carried a rubber mallet expressly for the purpose of whacking the switch when it was reluctant to move. Might give that a try.

Or move to warmer climates......

Did you check the breakers on the outside of the genny? maybe they have tripped.

Thanks for the response. Disconnected from shore power. got in the unit and cranked over the generator. Breaker on the generator wasn't tripped as it worked previously above freezing. It does seem loose and not like a tight set breaker.

If you use a mallet to coax it to get to the task at hand: don't use the mallet if you're angry...
You'll be reminding it: not turning it into an electrified pancake!
