What size batteries for a 24.1 house? I'm broke down on the road.

Longish story, short question:

Of course the new inverter dug up a battery problem.
Mine are so bad they will do 9 volts only.
Of course there's no group number on them and I'm parked 25 miles from farmington nm and have a day loaded up with my 84 year old dad who is buying a backhoe today.

So... Despite having TWELVE six volt batteries ready to be installed at my house...

What group battery do I need to buy that is a direct replacement for 2018 thor factory batteries? I'll measure the size with a tape measure, but having a group size would be handy.

The shore power does not help the situation and this makes me unsure how a converter works....

Group 24

I’ve got the Costco brand interstate deep cycle 12v flooded lead acid in my rig for now

There’s a SAMs Club in Farmington (if you’re a member) where you can get the Duracell brand deep cycle or two 6v golf cart batteries in similar size

At the warehouse store the deep cycle and 6 volt flooded lead acids are about the same price...$75-100 each

The Google says Group 31 battery is about 3.75” longer than Group 24 (same height and width)
So two 31’s requires nearly 8” of length.

So when I replaced my OEM batteries they were Group 24 and I chose to stay the same.

Thanks guys.
Wife is the same club card holder, I'm not.
The dimensions are different between the two you gave me, enough that I can get a measurement and see what I have.
I don't have time for any cable mods, I need a 'lick and stick' solution.
About all I care about is that the terminals wind up to be in the same spot.

If it had done this at home I'd get off my butt and do the six volt install... BUT NOOOO!!!!
It does it while I'm busy and far from home.
At least the batteries I purchase today will buy me plenty of time to complete the 6v mod.

While we're on the six volt mod thing:
Many golf cart owners swap batteries at what they seem to call '80%' I have six of their batteries that have been at the same 80 percent for about 10 years now.
The golf cart place charged me 10 bucks over core, so I'll say 20 bucks each is what I paid.
I have a new set also. Those were 900 bucks for six of them....

They were 24's and luckily an autoparts in Kirtland (the one near farmington that I'm spelling wrong...that kirtland) had the exact ones, had posts and bolt both just like I removed.
My worry about the exact battery type was solely cable reach. Bigger than 24 would have been great, but these are temporary and will be changed out within a month.

Direct easy replacement except for:
I loosened all the nuts(1/2"socket) but didn't take them off.
I climbed under the coach to get the clips on the holding straps off.
And while I'm under there, My dad decided to help, so he pulled all the cables off.
Luckily I had pictures to match it all back up by doing forensic exams on small scratches on the lugs and tape. That's a 350amp fuse on that 4/0 wire. I was a bit skeered, but got it all correct the first time.
All seems well.

Because of the way they wired up the new inverter, the roof ac wouldn't power because (I think) since the fan wasn't seeing 12v the compressor wouldn't come on...even when running the generator or shore power. Chassis power made it work for a while, but batteries got so bad so quickly that even that failed to let the compressor kick on. It was 105° in the rv before I got it all running. It's cooling down now. Dash air had little effect on the entire coach.

I have gone from thoroughly convinced I knew what was up, to thoroughly confused as to why a damn bad battery screwed me so bad when I have a converter.

Punchline:
I now have two new 24's that will allow me to not have to rush the six 6volt batteries swap.
$178 out the door.

Thanks for info. It had great value to me.

I'll probably do the same. Looks like it may take some work checking two of the fill holes though.

Will need to charge these Saunders batteries frequently on our trip out west next month. Adding an inverter and wiring to the gfci circuit and charging outside. Wife doesn't like the smell of the chargers and batteries. Anything to add fire away. How do you handle 750 watts for 2 ebike batteries?

NO Checking these batteries Sealed AGM's.

The E-Bike batteries are Not 750 watt. The motor in the Hub is.
They are like charging a laptop no worries.
E-Bike battery is 48V.

If you have the AIMs inverter install, you could charge while en-route or while sitting at your boon-dock location (as discussed...might need to alter your outside GFI outlet to inverter line so plug-in is more convenient).

And, if you have 2-3-4 solar panels as well, your batteries will be fine (as long as it's sunny).

Can these batteries be charged with the standard Vegas/Axis WFCO converter?

I went from four 6-volt batteries to 3 12-volt batteries on a diesel pusher. The reason is that I didn't get much life out of the six-volt batteries. Recently on our Windsport, I replaced the two 12-volt flooded lead-acid batteries with two 12-volt AGM batteries. They weren't cheap but they have been providing excellent service and don't need to be checked for electrolyte. No more non-maintenance batteries for me and I will use AGMs whenever possible.

I went to a local place that sells golf carts and batteries. Their deep cycle were way less expensive than WAL-mart/SAMS. I went from 2 6v to 1 12v
