Cool New Motorhome has miles on it?

Just curious, for all those of you who bought a new motorhome, what mileage was on the odometer when you took delivery?
Mine has 3,000 miles on it and I have yet to go on our first road trip.
I feel thats a bit excessive. Is it?
I live in WA state.

thanks in advance,

Tim Clark

Motorhome's are not trucked to the dealer..they are driven. As fhenn points out your Palazzo was built in Indiana and was driven to Washington.

Trailers and 5th wheels are also "driven" (ok towed) to their dealers as well (there is quite the little industry transporting RVs from the plants to the dealers across the country).

Concur with everyone else on Motorhomes. However TT's are not always towed and in fact many are trucked.

I initially wondered at the mileage on our "new" 2016 Hurricane - somewhere a bit north of 1800 miles.

I first thought that someone did an awful lot of test driving! But then I inquired and determined that those miles were put on when the coach was driven from IN to AZ.

roughly 1500 miles form elkhart to key west, o unless you're in south florida I'd say there's a bit more than delivery miles on that one!
still, not enough that would overly concern me......

A few extra miles may indicate that it was used in shows. Thus the carpet may have an extra few hundred footprints in it.

And probably some gum under the seat or table from some uncontrolled brat!

One of the selling reasons and why we decided to fly to Elkhart and pick ours up from the dealer (Total Value RV). Had ~ 30 miles on it.

Many dealerships also will drive their "new" motorhomes to RVShows, State Fairs, etc. That will add a few miles, and they can still sell it as new.

My coach had 866 miles when I took delivery. It is approx. 650 miles from Elkhart to the dealer's showroom which means the dealer put about 150 show miles on the rig. I put 50 miles on it for the test drive.
