Thor 2014 Challenger Help
Help we have a leak! First time Rv'rs and have to say it has been challenging.
When long slide out (living area) is out it does not leak. When we pull it in it leaks. A major leak. When we pull it in we hear it hissing and have to shut water off immediately. Don't know where to even start to look. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

I am not familiar with your coach but you say the living room slide coming in causes a water leak. I would have thought your kitchen slide moving might have been a more likely scenario. Probably the slide movement is also moving a pex water line and fitting somewhere under or inside the offending slide area. Likely a cracked or loose pex fitting or line now. Is the leak occurring on the ground under the offending slide or inside the coach? Of course the easy fix for travel is shut off the water pump. Try to see where the water is coming from specifically so you can determine a best course of repair.

my 2017 challenger lx is pre-plumbed for washer dryer in the long slide. we did install a washer and dryer. but water lines are there regardless. the water lines are long to allow slide to extend. sounds like they got pinched. they are not hard to find. I believe the back comes off the cabinet the washer goes in.

Leak is inside the coach. Kitchen does not slide. It seems to be back by the shower or somewhere in that area.

The leak seems to be under the left rear closets. Also that is where hissing is coming from when slide is in and water is turned on. Our closets are in the long slide opposite kitchen area. Washer is on kitchen area side.

Is your 2014 Challenger a model 35H? You mentioned previously that the kitchen is not on a slide though and 35 H does have that…..but cupboards are on the left (passenger side) rear?
Are you getting the leak on city water feed or when you are on coach water pump….or both? You say the leak/hissing sounds like it is in the rear bedroom cupboard area. Sometimes access to hoses etc can be obtained by removing lower cupboard drawers. Pull out and lift them up at the front off the roller guides. If they come out use a flashlight and look down in the area where the hissing occurs. If no drawers in that area look for a false floor in the cupboard floor. It might have screws in the corners to hold it down.

Ours is a 2014 36FD Challenger. Going to pull out drawers as you say and have a look.

Glad you found the leak site. Doing a repair on an RV can be exciting sometimes especially when you are not a contorsionist. If you can take pictures during your repair journey it can help others who might have your coach (or similar) and may end up doing that same repair down the road. Itmight also provide some ingenious repair solutions from other members if you are stumped.

If this damaged line is pex and you don't have pex tools or "easy" access for repair even with pex tools you could try a sharkbite coupling. Pex should be cut perfectly square with the correct cutting tool but at least the sharkbite connectors are easy to put on. A little more costly but sometimes you don't have the room etc. Home Depot might be a good bet... link attached but lately my links are not working....might be my security settings. This may be a quick repair to get you back in business:

I know I've lost a couple pints of blood running my hands through those areas you can't see. I've gotten pretty good with the phone camera fining things, then fixing them without even being able to see them. I'm practicing for my next business venture..."The Blind RV Mechanic".

Well, I see the word "fix" so congratulations on surviving the bowels of your RV underworld. I know you are trying to post pictures but having some trouble....at least for me. If you save it as a .jpg file then paper clip; select the file and then make sure to press "upload" first before posting.

I see the pictures now....must be something at my end. At least you stopped the leak. Be careful with a long term hose clamp solution as they can tend to loosen up with time, but you never know.
