No power to USE/STORE switch

No power to the Salesmans switch / USE/STORE by the door on my 2016 Four Winds 28z

New coach batteries but no 12v system unless on shore power or the genny and no refrigerator when driving down the road so thinking that the transfer switch is good.

Built as a rental--no battery disconnect within 20 inches of the +terminal (code...) and haven't a clue where else to go looking but all fuses in the chassis main box and coach are good otherwise, no power to the disconnect solenoid located behind the fuse panel in the bedroom on any of 4 poles.

Where else should I look? Obviously the USE/STORE switch must be powered by the chassis batts
Thanks so much

Gotta be a breaker/fuse in there somewhere.

Four Winds 28Z

No 12v unless shore power or running the genny and the fridge won't run while underway. No power to the USE/STORE switch either and apparently because it was built for rental, there doesn't appear to be a battery breaker within 20 inches of the terminal, at least one that looks like the kind that has a little yellow flag on the side when tripped.

Where else would Thor put a battery breaker? How is the USE/store switch energized? Thor sent the schematic which is useless.

The solenoid was found on a bulkhead behind the main fuse panel after removing the entire fuse panel--no power to it either--neither via the 3 gauge wire or the 12 gauge.

Any ideas? Thanks

Some have found the breaker with the flag under the hood on the firewall.

Is there a breaker with the yellow flag down by the batteries? If so - that is a battery disconnect relay. See if the yellow flag is sticking out. If so, reset the flag and see if that allows the batteries to connect. Also if you have no power to the use/store then the house batteries are probably not connected to the charging circuit in the converter.

It is just a simple battery cutoff switch. Positive in positive out. Google how to install this type switch.

If you don't hear a click when you toggle the store/use switch it is because there is a blown 5 amp in line fuse on the switching wire located on the solenoid itself.

Solved the problem ("thanks" Thor) with $372

OK--to answer and elaborate: 4 separate calls to electrical techies at TMC lead me to 1) replace the USE / STORE switch, (it broke apart when I pulled a spade off--not to worry, no power there either, 2)spend 4 hours looking for the solenoid (found after removing in its entirety the Control Panel in the bedroom--located on the far wall about 18 inches away and NOT behind or adjacent to the inverter as implied by TMC's schematic, or under the fridge as suggested by one of their techies, and with a good fuse and looking pristine, no power there either, 3) spent 4 hours looking for the battery breaker after being reassured multiple times that it would be in the battery compartment under the steps--not there either.

The last fellow I spoke with at TMC implied that I must be ignorant b/c I could not find the breaker--located in the battery compartment, etc.

The cute little automotive breaker was found by the local service guy, with its cute little yellow flag sticking out, located after removing the entire service panel again, and sticking his head into the hole--up and left, out of direct sight, and 20 feet from the battery terminal.

So I'm now both poorer and smarter--and will relate this to TMC Monday morning.

Thanks for all the input!
Bennett

Good, yet costly, info here.
Any chance up uploading a photo of the panel and the subject breaker?

Thanks for the info! I have a 28z and have pretty much the same issue. I have never found my chassis breaker to date- my problem ended up being tiny breaker on this switch (button on the left side) that is in the bathroom above the fuse panel in the back of the shelf next to the toilet. Do you have this? My 28z does not have an inverter. Please send a picture of where you found the flag breaker!

Glad to hear that you were able to get it fixed... even if it was a wee bit expensive!

Disconnect Switch

Hello again, another issue with the Windsport. Our Disconnect switch worked for about a week. We have been diligent to not let the batteries go down. I picked up a new switch from Scotts in Lakewood (TY) and installed it. However it is still not working properly. The lights remain on in either position. I have checked the fuses behind the switch, the wiring, the solenoid, the solenoid fuse, battery box fuse. nothing is tripped. Have any ideas?

Again thank you for all your great information.

Just for fun, disconnect from shore power and don't start the generator. Test again use/store. How lights now.

Use/Store Switch

Tried that already. You can hear the solenoid clicking, but lights still on. No Generator.
