Portable air compressor

Getting ready for road trip/our Axis 25.2 has no spare so would like to carry small portable. Have looked at Vivair (for example) but all seem to be powered by hooking up clips to battery to power. I just recently installed a 2000 watt inverter and with a generator on board I ask why not 110. I looked at small Senco .5 gallon with 0.7 scfm versus Vivair model with 2.3 scfm and wondering what opinion is out there/would Senco be a pain or go for something with higher scfm?

I carry a 110v Porter Cable pancake compressor. It's a lot cheaper and works better than any 12v alternative. I don't have a heavy duty inverter. I just keep my fingers crossed that I'm either hooked to shore power or my genny is working (it is)

I don’t know about the Senco but have just starting using my Vivair and it is far superior to my former air compressor. The Viair is quiet and can handle the high PSI required for my Vegas 24.1. I powered it off one of the house batteries and had plenty of reach to get to all 4 tires without using the extra air line included with the Vivair. I have the Viair 400P-RV. Also, the Viair gauge is built in and accurate. It correlated perfectly to my Robber air gauge. Also the valve connector screws on to the valve so you have a good positive connection.

Search for it on Amazon. That’s where I bought it. It’s not cheap but worth the price.

I use a very compact pancake compressor from Walmart (Hyper Tough or such) Works fine. I also used to fill tires on racecar. Is light, quick to refill tank and fits in front compartment. I leave it full and ready to use with hose quick connects.

I bought THIS 6 gal 150psi Porter Cable pancake compressor at Lowes for $89 using my 10% military discount. Had to organize a few basement compartments to make room for it. Having a 6 gal tank & 150 psi i have aired up a tire or 2 a few pounds without hooking it up to 110. Really comes in handy using air tools when tinkering around while in storage.

Viair 400P-RV is the only way to go it works great if you tow a car and two bikes I have 10 tires to take care of

Agree on the Viar. It’s pretty spendy but but it’s a quality piece of kit. And very compact. I’m confident it will outlast several RVs!

I have a Kobalt 110/12v air compressor that works great for me. cheap, light, small. Had about 6 months so far; so good!

Bought a small compressor on sale at Sears. I have an extension cord to reach all the tires. Works fine.

My vote goes to the Viair as well. I've tried a few of the other small tanked compressors and found them to be lacking, especially when dealing with large RV tires that require high pressure. They seem to deplete the air in the tank quickly and spend more time recharging the tank before filling the tire.

That sucker can draw 30 amps: does that pose a problem?

That's why it comes with clamps to connect directly to the battery.

What ever is easiest to reach (both the compressor, and the tire). You'd want the engine running at any rate.

I attach mine to the house batteries. I use it to top off my tires and it handles the task quickly. That's why it draws 30 amps. Never had a problem.

I was thinking that since they're more centrally located: they may be the best choice.
