I add mine thru the dipstick tube. I bought https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 this on Amazon & added a piece of clear tubing as an extension. Looks like I'm giving the engine an IV. It screws onto the bottle quart & gallon, after I invert the bottle I punch an air hole to make it flow quicker.

Also found a filter wrench that works on or off. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The oil filler cap is on the left, from the front, of the engine compartment. Its back in a ways and hard to see as its black. It sits in front of the battery. I got a 3' length of 1/2" hose and pushed a funnel into one end. Then I snaked it down from the top, behind the open hood an put the free end into the filler tube. Pour the oil in and thats all there is to it. You might want to give it a minute before removing the tube to let the oil drain.

Brake fluid and PS fluids on the right of the engine compartment, close to the front. Could use a similar hose setup to fill them.

I did a funnel and hose contraption until the rig was 4 years old, when I replaced the battery. Now I that I have the dash part cut out with some little metal plates to hold it up, I use that access like in the video. I also put on the Fumoto valve that was mentioned.

There are several screws, but an easy job with a power screwdriver. You need to get a grease gun to grease the zerks on the steering links, but do not force grease out through the seals. You can feel some resistance just before that happens.

Check with a RV shop to find out how much you are saving with each oil change. Then congratulate yourself on saving $$!

Thank you to all, I really learn a lot. It like the unit is built to make regular care just a pain.

Oil fill cap

May be different on the '18, but I have a 2016 Vegas and although the oil fill cap is back left under the hood and hard to get to, I was able to easily (once I figured it out) to slip a small paper funnel in and a quart container (so smaller) and with care fill it that way. No need to take off the work desk. Would make it easier of course, but not necessary.

This isn't installed yet because I'm deciding on flexible hose type vs partial ridgid, but the pictures tell the tale.

The clear part of the funnel takes the place of the filler cap, a flexible 2"+- hose is ran to the locking water fill unit.

It's probably way less than an hour to drill the big hole, three screws, two clamps and replace the filler cap.

I'll probably never do my own oil changes because I did the math(AFTER I bought this set up) and saving 400 over the next ten years isn't worth the disposal problems.
But, I'll do this mod anyway to make life easy on anyone involved.

Edit:
It just dawned on me. Radiator hose is perfect. I'll check it's oil resistance.

I just changed the oil in my 2015 24.1 Axis.
To make the job slightly easier I detached the two large, flexible air intake hoses, since I was also going to change the air cleaner.
I used approximately 3 feet of 1 inch plastic hose and a funnel.

Take make the job easier I had my wife hold the hose and funnel high enough to get a good flow as I poured in the oil.
The job was actually quite easy. I did have to make ramps out of 2x12's, so I could get underneath to drain the oil and change the filter.

Well, here are two more ways.

1. Take it to walmart! there charge is very low. Be sure and tell them to use 6 quarts, their book says 7 on the V10.

2. Have you checked your chassis battery lately? If so you've already cut the two tabs on the wood access plate. Once its off the oil filler cap is really easy to get to. We have removed the flip out computer table and left it at home. Replaced it with a foam pad so now my wife has a comfortable place to prop her legs up! Anyway, with the table gone 6 screws is all there is to get in there!!

Antf76,

If you think adding oil is a challenge (some of us hate to cut holes in our RV) don't wait until you need to change the engine battery like I did. I got my battery changed at an RV center without asking enough questions as to how it would be done. When I picked up the unit I had a bit of sticker shock over $500 (most for the time needed to do the cut out).

DocMike,

Cant speak for your 2016 because I have a 2017 but the hole is precut from the factory on mine. All you have to do is cut two small wood strips 3/8 inch wide and use an exacto knife to cut the paper tape than holds it in place. Putting it back requires a little more creativity since you have to use a couple of wood strips to hold it in place.

Everyone needs to do this I think to check the water in the battery at least once a year and clean the cables on the terminals. Also if you do this Walmart or the car parts places will replace the battery at no charge if you remove the cover yourself. Takes about 5 minutes.

The other way is to remove the right front tire, the plastic fender splash panel (held by 3 screws) and remove the battery that way.

JoeDS,

For me, that trip to the RV Shop falls under the "live and learn" category of training. I now ask more questions, search this and other Forums and even look at U-tube Videos before I head to the RV Shop.

That second way sounds like a Motor Vehicle equivalent of a Caesarean delivery!
