Oil Filter Ford V10

Can anyone out there in Thor-land tell me what oil filter I need for my Ford V10 engine on my 2017 Ace 29.4? Thanks in advance if you can help.

You can go to any auto parts store and they’ll have the correct filter.

I would cross reference for something better than a Motorcraft for a few dollars more. K&N HP-2010 or a Mobil 1 for example. Buy them on Amazon for under $10.

Something Ford doesn't have is engine problems. They subscribe many engines to the FL-820S. Motorcraft is a high quality filter with it's own production line at Purolator. Not being a petroleum engineer myself it appears they made the right choice for the V10 and at only $3.50. Seems like a deal to me.

Motorcraft makes very few parts (as most auto manufacturers) and bids out their parts from vendors. Guess who generally wins in this scenario?? Baby Ducks, LLC (cheap, cheap). Can't go wrong with WIX...it's all I've ever used. Never judge a filter unless you've actually cut them open and analyzed the guts.

I just use the chart at wally world for ours. 2016 E-450 V-10. Think it's the same as my RAM pu a ph-2.

I have seen opened up filters and Wix are at the top of my list too. Hey, I don't blame anyone if they want to buy the cheapest filter on the shelf. Personal preferences.

Im a complete motor-head but open an oil filter? Google can show me a cut-away view of nearly any filter out there. You'll be surprised to see they are nearly identical. The bypass valve might be positioned differently due to OEM beliefs but no one has any magical distinctions in their construction. Now if you tell me there is loose change in my filters I might be so inclined to cut one open. Other than simple curiosity seem kinda senseless. Here the wix and the motorcraft are the same cost so is amsoil, purolator...the only real distinction is the K&N but when I decide to race my RV I'll spring for a $10 filter...then I'm certain my engine will NEVER fail!!

The factory Motorcraft filter seems fine. Any upgraded filter will be fine. Different OEMs and producers use differing anti-drainback valves. Sometimes they do not stay sealed. During routine use if you ever start an engine and notice it clatters or sounds drastically different, you may want to change oil and filter. If the engine has been sitting for extended period they may also sound a little loud.

My experience with big name orange filters has not been great on 3 different engines. They were replaced immediately.

I use Wix or Purolator on race engine and cut periodically. Most times, the oil bypasses the filter due to combination of heavy viscosity and high oil pressure.
