Outdoor Kitchen: Refrigerator

We have a 2014 Windsport 34f with the Outdoor Kitchen. The refrigerator has no control knobs that I can locate. The temperature stays at approximately 52 degrees; which is not cold enough. DW is thinking about throwing it out and putting something else there.

Does anyone else have this problem, if so, what have you done?

A couple of people have replaced the OEM fridge with a better brand like Samsung. Easy swap if your replacement has the same approximate dimensions. Our outdoor fridge has temp control but even on the lowest setting about 45 is as low as it will go. I just use the fridge for storing drinks and keeping them semi cool, works ok for that.

Lets not solve the problem too quickly. I have an idea I want to sell the DW on. I think it will fit perfectly!

Looks like a PERFECT solution to me!!! I would install first and then tell her. Easier to ask for forgiveness than asking for permission!!!

Hey, I've been shot at in combat, but I am not that brave. Been married for 43 years and would like to keep it that way.

Does anybody really think DW would say yes to the kegerator !

Been shot and stabbed too, guess I'm really not that brave either, I'm married to a red headed Taurus!!

Guess it would depend on how much she likes beer!

On the 29M it is not an easy swap. It was hard finding one that would fit. I found one and hard to do a couple of mods to get to fit.

My old rig was a 2014 Miramar 34.2, with an outdoor kitchen and fridge. From the outside you could not see any controls for the fridge. While looking for something else under the bed, I removed 4 or 5 screws and lifted a panel. Behind this panel hidden from plain view was the temp control for the fridge.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess your temp control will be on the back side of the fridge, which is buried under your bed or counter/dresser in the bedroom, whichever is on the inside of your outside kitchen!

The temp control knob on mine is on the back of the fridge. I access it through a panel in the bedroom. Remove 4 screws to remove the panel.

Mine is on back as well. On full cold it gets down to about 36 but the goes up to the mid-40s before the compressor cuts on again. That's not cold enough for fresh meat, etc. IMHO.

Good for water and cokes though.

You most likely have a temperature control - it is on the back of the fridge (where mine is). You have to open the access panel on the side of the bed to access it. FYI - I turned mine to the lowest setting and the pop started freezing and exploding. I turned it back. lol

The best place depends on the brand and type of fridge you are buying.

90%+ of compressor fridges (for RVs etc) are DC native. When they are listed as AC/DC this means that they have a power converter (like the one that powers your laptop) built in. This converts 120VAC to 12VDC.

If you have a shore power charger, there is no need for the AC option (it usually costs more). Your shore power charger will keep the batteries topped off and supply all the power the fridge needs.
I think a 60 liter fridge is a good size for a 7-10 days for 2 people. Any longer and you need more space. Of course this is highly individual dependent.

I have seen a few good reviews of the Whytner AC/DC portable fridges https://bestoutdooritems.com/best-outdoor-refrigerator/ I cannot speak to power usage though.

Fridges with the Danfoss/Secop compressor system are quite reliable. Though they may not be as efficient as the Sawafuji compressors used in the Engel fridges.I like to watch YouTube videos of a similar theme when I'm looking for information about the right product. I hope this helps someone in the future. Good luck!
