Outside Kitchen Question
OK folks, either I am blind (in that case stay off the roads on Thursday because my coach does not have a seeing eye car) or the operators manual is way off base.
Where is the temperature control for the Danby refrigerator in the outside kitchen? This frig is installed in a Challenger 37ND but is probably the same used in the other models with outside kitchens.
The manual says it is a blue knob on the ceiling of the refrigerator. Inside my frig there isn't a knob on the ceiling and in fact there is nothing of any color other than white.
Right now it looks like if I do not plan on using the frig I have to unplug it rather than turn it off.

Fridge thermastat location
I googled it and it's on the outside of the back wall located at the top so you will have to pull fridge out to adjust temp.

Well the manual was at least close - it is on the fridge.

Wouldn't you know, this is the one thing in the coach where it looks like they used twice as many fasteners as required rather than half the required number.
I haven't figured out how this frig is secured in its hole but it wont budge even a fraction of an inch. There is no front to back or side to side play at all.

Knowing what we know: There are probably no fasteners and its just wedged in there really tight! (Are there forklift marks on it from when they used it to push the refer into the coach?? LOL)

No forklift marks but they may have used a crane, strap and 2 gorillas. That may be what I'll have to use to get it out to adjust the temperature.

I am sure there is an undocumented feature somewhere here.

Undocumented on two fronts. Thor for not mentioning the refrigerator in the outside kitchen and Danby for saying the control is inside the frig when it is not.
Oh well, Forest River didn't provide any documentation on their outside kitchen either and it had issues as well.
I was hoping that this was a case of an oversized hole being drill for the power cord so I could slip my hand in and adjust the control. In this case it is a perfectly drill 1 1/2 inch hole in the perfect spot for the power cord and nothing else. I guess there is quality workmanship in some places. When they built my house the plumbers punched out a six inch diameter hole in my hardwood floors to run a one inch gas line for the dual fuel stove. I didn't see that fiasco until we pulled the stove out for cleaning one day.

I see that there are a couple of bulkhead panels to the right of your dresser drawers and one on your W/D cabinet. Sometimes these are just screwed on for easy access, maybe you can get to it from the inside

The floor of the WD closet is also screwed down and that one may allow access as well.
Right now I have the rig loaded for the shakedown cruise which begins in the morning. I'll wait until I get back to check it out.
For the time being I am going to put some bottled water in the frig and see if it freezes during the 5 hour drive. I put a thermometer in there awhile back and when I looked yesterday it was ready 30 degrees. I'm not sure about the level of accuracy of the thermometer but I don't want the beer freezing.

RM thanks. Just walked out and found a panel to the right of the dresser with 4 screws. Took off the panel and although the area was tight I was able to squeeze my arm in and find the control. Hopefully I turned the knob in the correct direction to change the temp. Also put a plastic bottle of water in the frig to test it and I'll check on it in a couple of hours.
One thing I will say, that have that area framed and plumbed better than some houses I've seen. That refrigerator is not going to shift in any way shape or form without first removing three tie down straps which are screwed into a lumber frame. Aside from about a cup of sawdust which I'll vacuum out later I don't see any issues in that area.
I did notice that if I want to remove the washer compartment floor for any reason I must first remove a piece of cabinet support board which is coving one of the screws for the compartment floor. It's a giant erector set and jigsaw puzzle in tis construction.

Glad that worked out. I was thinking how stupid of Thor to not use a mini fridge with temp adjustment on the inside for ease of use. At least they engineered it to be difficult to adjust and not impossible..lol

Our Miramar 34.2 is in the shop (Thor-Elkhart). When they call that its ready I'll ask the tech's how to adjust the temp control on the outside refrig. In fact I'll ask him to adjust it and see what happens. Hope they don't remove the side of the coach. I'll let everyone know.

I spent quite a bit of time "discussing" this issue with the little woman. She insisted that since the manual said there was a knob inside of the refer that I must be looking in the wrong place... after quite some time "talking" this over she finally admitted that the manual must be wrong

My Thor 38re has the same outdoor fridge! I had to look inside the cabinet adjacent to the fridge to gain access to the temp control knob. Crazy setup!

The cabinet next to my outside fridge does not have a removable panel so the knob cannot be accessed in that manner. In my experience this is a case of the accountants found a discount (lower cost) and the logisticians order the parts (refrigerators) in bulk before discussing the change with the engineers (design). We refer to this as the classic 3 point failure which often times leads to a higher overall cost than if they left things alone.
