Dash Radio

I have a 2017 ACE, my wife and I have taken sides on where does the dash radio get its power from. I told her the power comes from the engine battery and she tells me it comes from the house battery.

I hope you all can declare one of us correct.

And the winner is.... Both of you....lol...
Some rigs may vary, but typically the dash radio gets 'primary' power from coach batteries and 'keep alive' (clock, etc) from chassis...

Not my 29h. Keep alive power is from coach battery side of transfer relay through a in line fuse. Switched power is from fuse 9 in the coach power distribution panel. How do I know this? Because my fat fingers blew the keep alive fuse and it took my two days to find it. With no help from Thor support!

Why I started with "Some rigs may vary, but typically"

To find out on a particular rig - have the radio on and clock set... Disconnect from shore power - no genny running (those bring the BCC or BIRD/Trombetta into play...)

Fully disconnect the coach batteries (use/store may not be enough - 'keep alive' power could bypass this...)

I expect in most cases the radio will go off... if so - main radio power is from coach.

Wait a minute or so - then reconnect the coach batteries... See if the radio retained time/date... If so - your 'keep alive' is from chassis... if not - your 'keep alive' is from coach...

(Of course need to alter sequence if your radio stays on with coach batteries removed.... or could mean your batteries are coupled when they shouldn't be as someone else saw recently...
