Pilot out light on

The PILOT OUT light is on and won’t go off. Is this normal unless there is a hot water demand. Haven’t noticed before. 2019 Thor Freedom Elite. Thanks

Welcome to the site.

Can you hear the water heater running (e.g. the jet engine sound coming from the side of the RV)? Most likely not if the light is on. Can you light your stove? Does the fridge run on gas (e.g. is the gas valve on)?

Note that modern RV water heaters do not have a pilot light they are DSI (direct spark ignition) and thus that light just means it couldn't "light the fire".

Oh 2019 coach: Do you have the tankless water heater? If so then that light may mean something completely different.

Which Freedom Elite RV do you have? (the 24FE has a tankless heater, all the other models have a 6 gallon DSI heater according to the webpage: https://www.freedom-motorhomes.com/f...lite/features/ )

So you have a tank. Its pretty simple to get it going:
  • Make sure that there is water in it (check the bypass valves)
  • Turn on one of the switches at the panel (gas or electric:120VAC)
  • Wait a few and you have hot water

If you turn on the gas switch you should hear it fire up--sounds like a jet plane inside your coach. If it isn't lighting up make sure your gas is on and the stove can light.

On electric it will take a little bit longer to heat up the water.

Sometimes I have had problems with propane appliances not lighting, either the refer or the water heater. It happened to me today when I turned on the refer. The light started blinking indicating it didn't properly fire. Turned the refer off, lit the stove, waited a couple of minutes then turned the refer on. It then worked. This has also happened to DSI water heaters. Turned one on, the fault light lit. Same thing, turned on stove, then water heater. I know it's a pain, but sometimes that is the way RV propane systems work.

Awesome tutorial.

Pilot out light on

Can hear valve click and propane running. Just won’t ignite. Maybe electronic igniter broken?

Or spider webs across the ignitor.

Pilot out light on

This problem started after someone turned off our water at the campground. I’ve checked the thermal overload good. Took the assembly apart and cleaned it and checked the fuse on the igniter panel good. The solenoid valve opens and propane is flowing just won’t ignite the pilot light
