Rats!
Rats, or maybe squirrels, have chewed a wire to the generator. Getting it fixed, but the broken wire is behind the carburetor. Couldn't be somewhere easy to fix. Just learned that several rigs parked near ours have had similar damage.
Will add some mothballs around the coach when it goes back to the storage area. I have used oil of peppermint on cotton balls in the past. Avoids the bad aroma, but didn't last as long. Any better ideas to repel these varmints?

We use the cattle ear tags to keep wasps out of a/c and other vents...but do not know if they work for rodents. I have heard that walnut shells will repel spiders and rodents, but do not know that for a fact.
Also, dryer sheets are supposed to be a good deterrent !
Let us know what you find and if it works !

Irish Spring soap bars. Been working for us since the feral cats migrated to better hunting fields.

My storage areas look pretty messy while my rig is stored. There are probably 8 to 10 of the black plastic ant traps all over, then dryer sheets everywhere. I do keep bags of moth balls in my garage and in and under my shed, but that is for snakes.
If moth balls work for rats and cats I will be throwing some of them in my storage compartments also.

Thanks all!
Coach goes back to storage tomorrow. I think it will be Irish Spring in the engine and generator area, and moth balls around the outside. (Belt AND suspenders approach!)
Another problem showed up, no TV signal from the antenna. Found rusty connections on the roof. Required new ends on the TV cables, and some protective coverings on each. Also, every cable connection was loose inside. Suggest each of you check yours, if you haven't done that.

Never heard of the Irish Spring Soap method. Do u cut the bars up? How many do you use? Does it work in all vehicles?
Thanks

I just cut the large flat side of the box open, leave the bars in the box. I put them in eng. bay, outside frig. vent, furnace HWH etc. Inside under bunks, sinks and hard to reach areas.

The livestock tags you want are NOT the identification tags but, rather, the insecticide ear tags. Buy the least expensive they have. Probably permethrin will be the active chemical.
