Refilling fresh water tank

I seem to get back pressure when filling the fresh water tank. I've found I can only slowly dribble in water from the hose when filling the 40 gallon tank on my 2015 ACE 30.1. Needless to say, this process takes too long. Any suggestions? Thanks

Check the vent tube for a kink in the line. Our was relaxed enough that it was pinched a bit.
Oh, it also had mold growing in it!! I used a coat hanger, rag and bleach to clean it out.

The vent tube screen should be adjacent to your fill port. If the screen is missing it needs replaced

You can use air to blow out the vent hose but be cautious

Often when tanks are overfilled they back up water into the air vent

And most of the time to much slack is left in the vent hose which you can remedy by shortening and trying to take any sags out that create a trap

Peroxide poured down the vent line and pushed on in with air will sanitize the line but it really shouldn't have had standing water

Just to add to what previous posters have said......I did not want to (so far) remove the water fill inlet port (e/w vent tube screen and vent line behind it) so I just use a foot long piece of rubber hose (gas line or similar that just fits over the vent line opening on the fill inlet fixture).....and blow air into the vent tube forcing any water back into the fresh tank.

Be careful, if your tank is actually full, as you blow the vent clear of water you may get the overflow water coming back out the main fill tube onto the ground......or your face if you stand in front of it. Ask me how I know that.

If you are actually filling the tank, but having issues getting water into the tank because the vent line has water in it.....blowing through the cheater tube to clear the vent line should allow water fill to proceed without issue. The vent line inside the coach needs to be moved/positioned higher than the fill tube but so far the cheater hose has been much easier for the few times I needed to use it over the last 7 years.

My 35SF was delivered with the main fill line dipping too low between the fill port and the tank inlet. Water would pool in the line and not allow a free-flow downward. I would have to hold the water line in the fill port real tight which would eventually push the water dam through, allowing it to fill. Thor shortened the line/tied it up during my factory visit and it works fine now. A couple other owners had the same issue and this resolved their problem as well.

Our 2015 ACE 30.1 sometimes does this also but not all the time. When it started happening I would slow the flow to a trickle and that would take forever. BIL told me to turn the flow up to max and it goes in just fine, don't understand it but it works. Jim.

We lost the screen/plug in the vent tube and a mug wasp plugged the vent. Once I figured our why I couldn't fill the tank, I took the tube loose at the tank end and blew it out.
I would definitely check the entire length of vent tube before blowing "into the tank", because you may have crap in the line that will end up fouling your tank water.

I bought one of these https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 makes filling a breeze, as long as vent tube is OK.

I had the Same problem with mine. I put some air pressure on the tank and it blew a chunk of dried sealer put the vent tube. Just don’t put too much pressure on the tank.

I had a similiar problem, when the Anderson 4-way valve is in the "Fill" position, I get a very, very little dribble into the fresh water tank. I tried using compressed air to blow thru the line, but even then was not getting any air thru to the FW tank. Filling the FW tank would take forever. I finally went Ace Hardware and got some clear flexible tubing and some fittings to make a fill hose that threaded into an extra plug on top of the FW tank. Now, I just hook my FW hose to it and fill it up in a few minutes. The water hookup is in the last compartment on the driver's side, FW tank is in a compartment on passenger side behind the entry door. So, I think something is plugging the line in that long distance.

We did the same thing for our tank (same tank layout) and it fills both ways but like the direct fill option best as it s far faster.

Mud dauber in the vent tube was the cause of slow fill on my last coach.

I did too but it still backs up. Won’t show above 1/3 full

I have a 2016 Thor Ace 30.1. Where is the fresh water vent tube located?

That's very funny in a thor forum inside joke way

(Check the wiring on the side of the tank. The top two are disconnected.)
