Removing Vegas/Axis Dash Desk

In the early Axis/Vegas model years to replace the chassis battery the recommended method was to remove the dash desk and then cut through the plywood dash top in a designated area to access the battery from above. In searching the forum for replacing the Axis/Vegas chassis battery on 2014 or 2015 models I found that owners Chucke and Gunner3 describe their experience in changing their battery. I included a description and pictures in the owners' manual I compiled that is available here on the forum.

What I have not been able to find is how to remove the dashtop desk. In Chucke's description he talks about removing 12 screws but I do not see where those screws are. I'd appreciate if someone could post a description on how to remove the desk. If anyone has pictures that would also be helpful.

Thanks.

Also I posted some great pictures of the battery removal on our 2017 you're welcome to use all my photos. I actually like the fact changing it from inside your out of the elements with either the heat on or you can have the air conditioning on it's very simple to do and I believe it's safer.

Rev: Thanks for the kind words. Loved the pix of my manual being places where I have yet to visit.

I've kept track of the number of times I emailed a cy of the manual and of the number of downloads from the link here on the forum. Hard to believe it's up to just shy of 1400 times. Interestingly, many of those distributions were to owners of non-Axis/Vegas models. I'm glad that I could be of help to others. I also am thankful of all those owners who contributed and allowed me to use their information in my compilation.

I had a 2017 Axis 25.2. Soon after we got it I found I could not service the battery. Remove the screws on left and right fold- back table, then remove all screws holding the plastic pan. You will see a 1/4" plywood board. Go to Lowe's and buy 2 hinges and 3 L brackets. Before you cut thru the tabs holding the board in place, center and attach the hinges on the left side. Then cut the tabs and lift the board. There is a heat resistant membrane. You can reattach if you choose. After filling battery with water or change out, use L brackets on all 3 sides to hold in place.... Bob Trice

This sounds like the way to go. I'll be doing this to my Vegas, thanks.
