That's a fantastic bit of engineering and fabricating. You've done a wonderful job at modifying something that shouldn't have needed to be modified. I will check my steel pile once we get back to KY and see if I can make a support similar to yours. The ladder on our RV is sagging and there is no way that I will use it unless it's supported.

I saw this thread after I created a thread about the ladder on my 29M.

Anyone reading this should read my thread and they will think twice about climbing up this latter even if you only weighed 100lbs.

useless ladder

Most RV ladders are useless. There are weight issues and access issues.

Will the ladder hold your weight? Will the pressure on the attachment screws tear the RV wall and let moisture in.

The ladder gives access to one section of roof. To get anywhere else, one needs to crawl or walk on the roof.

There are also airflow issues. Airflow affects gas mileage.
When you see an RV, trailer or motor home, driving down the road, the most common thing you will see attached to the ladder is another ladder that can be moved. There are a number of high quality, easily stored ladders available.

Mine doubles as a straight ladder or folds for a step ladder. Its useful all around the campsite.

Take that RV ladder off, caulk the screw holes, and get a good ladder.
