Rust Underneath NEW RV Already?!

Hello, fellow Thor(n-in-the-siders )!

The 2020 Chateau 25V purchased a month ago in Albuquerque had around 1400 miles on it, having been driven to the dealership from the Indiana factory. Any road salt will betray a lack of “due diligence” in coating all rust-prone components underneath.

Nip that $h!T in the bud with a $4 can of Krylon Undercoating! Use short bursts or it can get MESSY! Just spray over the rust. It’ll hold...and you’ll sleep better at night, knowing you took authority over the corrosive environment!

I have the same on my 2020 Chateau 28z. Surprised that they are not undercoated before they start the buildup. I followed your advice. Much better after a couple of cans of Krylon. I'm less concerned about the main structural beams as I am about the 3/4" angle iron holding up various parts/trim etc. That stuff will rust through in a couple of years. I'm in IL. Don't plan to drive in snow and salted roads but will need to take it out for exercise on dry days in the winter. I think the undercoating will be a once a year job.

Soince the chassis might sit for a year before Thor nails a house ob top of it: they're exposed to all sorts of weather in the interim...
Krylon covers a lot of sins...

Nothing new. This issue is years old.
