Safe-T-Plus Vs. Roadmaster Steering Stabilizer
Hello everyone. After 17K miles I have been looking into adding a steering stabilizer to my 2016 Vegas 25.2. I have asked the manufactures for comparisons. I want to ask all of you that have experience with Steering stabilizers and which one did you go with.
Thank you!

They both work well. I have the Roadmaster.
I believe the Roadmaster has an exposed spring while the Safe-T=Plus has a covered spring.
I think the Roadmaster is also less expensive.

Obviously I can only evaluate the one I purchased, the Safe-T-Plus. It is more expensive than the Roadmaster but I liked the fact it was enclosed. I had that and a larger rear anti-sway bar installed at the same time so I can't tell you which made the most improvement to handling of my Miramar. But I can say between the two it now handles great. I have NO issues with passing or meeting semis and can comfortably handle 20 MPH crosswinds and gusts. For me, the best part of the Safe-T-Plus is the time it gives you to respond to high wind gusts. You can still feel them but it eliminates the white knuckle response since it is designed to keep your wheels going straight. They are also a Christian based organization with a great reputation of standing behind their product.

Either one will turn your RV into a new driving experience. I went with Safe T Plus, more expensive but better warranty. Enclosed spring as mentioned earlier. Customer service at S+ was awesome, very helpful. Super easy to install... Good luck.

I also purchased the Saftey Plus the the very reasons that Mirmar stated above.
It works great.... night and day difference .... easy to install yourself. Plus I like how it helps to straighten the front wheels at slower speeds after you make a turns. Kinda like having a Front Wheel drive RV

Went with the Sad T Plus. Easy install and greatly improved the drivability.

I self installed a SafeTPlus on my class C. It was an easy install and I was pleased with the results. I purchased and installed the Roadmaster on my Class A. I liked that it was cheaper and the exposed spring seems like a (small) plus to me. I have found other Roadmaster products to be superbly engineered and very well made. The install was just as easy and the results were just as good. I don’t think you could go wrong with either one. FWIW I had a question on the instructions for the SafeTPlus so called the company and I was very impressed with their customer support.

Update on Steering stabilizer
Thank you all for the information. I ordered the roadmaster from etrailer the end of Feb. Received a phone call from etrailer telling me it will be the end of May first of June before the roadmaster will ship. Apparently they are back ordered. I have been patiently waiting. I will however cancel if I receive another phone call delaying the shipment and go with Safety T Plus. I am also looking at the Sumo Springs. Hopefully with in the next couple weeks it will all come together.

I decided to go with the Bilstein Steering Damper
It was $92 thru Amazon
Yes, it is much improved from the OEM (whimpy) stock Ford E450 piston
No, it’s not a Saf T Plus or Roadmaster
But many on this Forum & others have had success with the Bilstein product at a significant cost savings vs ST+ & Rdmstr
So I read the reviews and made my decision
BTW...it’s a simple DIY plug&play install, No adjusting needed
Significant piston compression vs OEM, and steering wheel returns to center position

+Caster
+Caster is natures steering stabilizer.
If the final RV build is nose down one degree then the runtime caster could be about +3.5 degrees. These units can have a real wandering problem.
If the final RV build is nose level then the runtime caster could be about +4.5 degrees. These units are probably indifferent.
If the final RV build is nose up one degree then the runtime caster could be about +5.5 degrees. These units are probably just fine at highway speeds.
So, some RVs have a problem with wandering at highway speeds and some do not have a problem. JMO.
POPULAR MECHANICS MAY 1973:
START QUOTE:
If too little caster exists, the car will wander and weave,
thus necessitating constant corrections in steering.

Update on Steering stabilizer
I got an update on the Roadmaster steering stabilizer that I ordered back in early March. It was going to be another month. So I went on line and tried to find another source. After a couple of hours of looking, I went with the Safe T Plus and mounting hardware. It will be here Wednesday. Again I thank you all for your input on this. Lets see next on the list Sumo Springs and then the inverter!

Sway Bars and Steering Stabilizer installation completed
After a few ordeals I have finished the sway bar and steering stabilizer installation. Ordeals were the other model sway bars back (Roadmaster) back ordered about 2 months, delayed our install. Once the right units were found (the Hellwig models mentioned here) delivery happened in 3-5 days. Installed on 2019 Thor Vegas 25.5 in just one day.
The trip from Kentucky to California in May proved these are of much benefit. We had all kinds of weather from simple rain to monsoons, hail, ice, healthy winds, big trucks blowing us around, a lot of white knuckle driving and snow in South Dakota in later May. It convinced us to get these installed.
A Hellwig front sway bar, A Hellwig rear sway bar and a Safe-T-Plus steering stabilizer. So if you need the factory sway bars and steering unit I have----no charge but shipping.
Installation was reasonably straight forward. The difficult part was the front sway bar mounting bolts being tough to remove. You need an 18mm socket for the front bolt and a 15mm socket for the rear. Both bolts require a lot of force/strength to get out. Apparently lock tite used to put them in. I had to use a 3/8 ratchet with 12 inch cheater bar (a one inch pipe) to finally remove the front bolts.
Can be completed in about 4-6 hours and then do road test.
Gary

I think the biggest difference is exposure , the Safe T is all inclosed and comes with a life time guaranty which is a major advance for salty roads vs the RoadMaster is exposed but still well coated and sufficient in dry climates.
