Schwintec slide out of sync..

My RV: 2015, Thor Hurricane 34J, with one large slide out.

Problem: Front side of slide, the top slide rail is out of sync from the bottom. When the bottom of slide is closed in and tight, the top of slide is still about 3/4 inch out, barely contacting the seal flap...

Happened last trip. I heard the “cog” slip when extending the slide out. On the way home it rained and the gap I’m describing is enough that rain water leaked in ( thankfully just a little ).

Any ideas of how to approach this issue?

Thanks in advance for your input....

you cant resync top and bottom - the gear has jumped the track - only a replacement of the rail will work - ours was done at the factory svc ctr

Slide

I think you may be in trouble. Sync usually applies to sync between back and front motors. I believe the top and bottom drive cogs from a particular motor (one motor per side) are hard connected top to bottom. If so, this is mechanical problem with the drive teeth and slide out tracks. I have not taken one apart myself but have had multiple slide issues (drive teeth, stripped slide out rails, and failed motors) that required several trips in for service. I would call your dealer or Thor customer service. Good luck

Have you taken yours into a service department?

I have a mobile service technician that I use for annual maintenance and I trust him. He helped direct me to a Master Service Technician that works at Camping World; and apparently knows his stuff when it comes to these Schwintec slide outs. I’ll post what the outcome is.

Question: what would allow this to happen?
Is there something that we should be keeping an eye on?

(Okay: two questions!)

Lance, If your still under warranty, let the dealer do it just in case something needs to be replaced.

Let me know how it goes. I am wanting to take mine apart to order a spare motor. Mine gets stuck when extending and I have to push it to get it started again. Tried lubing everything I can find, just a little afraid of getting it apart and not able to get it back together. I keep thinking there must be rollers or something to hold the weight but can't see anything. Good luck!!

I just picked up a Suzuki Samurai so I’ve been playing with it instead of the 29M. If I have time maybe I’ll pull one of my motors to see how much work it is on Sunday

It's almost "that" easy.

You'll need a ladder on the outside and something to stand on inside.

Glad he mentioned shaking the slide, ours would have never come out without me pushing out at the top of the slide and prying up on the motor at the same time. still wasn't "that" easy, a ventriloquist wouldn't have any trouble.

And now for the questions.

I have a soldering iron, anybody know where these 3 wires go?

OP did you get your fixed? the YouTube video makes it sound easy

The plug is fine, something pulled 3 of the wires off the motor, the plastic cover at the top of the motor was broken.

The symptoms are...

push the extend button, slide moves 2" and stops.
push the retract button, slides closes the 2".

We found a work around.
after each extend push, push the retract button till you hear th motor start.. LET it go, push extend, slides moves 2" and stops, repeat till full open or closed.

Thanks

I give this a 2 (oil change) on my DIY 1 to 10 scale .

Here are the "I gotya's" that weren't in the YouTube from Lippert.

1. The slide must be EXTENDED far enough to get a Square bit screwdriver on the screw.

2. The slide must be RETRACTED to get the motor out.

Install

1. A lot of shaking and moving the slide to get the motor to drop in.

2. When you drop the screw it will fall inside the slide, easy to get to, from the outside, at the bottom in the corner of the slide.
