Screen/Main Door Rattle In ACE 29.3

Mornin', Folks!

Still in the learning curve in our new-to-us ACE. Just back from a short venture and prepping for our first long one. One thing I've noticed is that the screen door rattles pretty severely going over bumps. Have to admit that I haven't really investigated, but thought I'd check in here first. Is there an adjustment that will draw it more tightly closed?

Also, there is a fair amount of resistance in closing the door, presumably in the hydraulic cylinder. It will travel a short bit, then bind. Hate to be too aggressive in pulling it closed; has anyone else experienced anything like this? Fix for it?

Thanks in advance!
Mickey

Shim up the screen door in specific areas with pieces of sticky-back foam strips from big box stores. Wiggle the screen door around with door closed and RV standing still and you'll find the spot. Slam the door with 'reasonable' force...not enough to wake up the campgrond...that's the only thing that works. If it's truly binding, you may have a bent or defective cylinder. Remove it and roll it around on a flat surface, observing any wobble.

Can’t advise on the screen door, but we lock our door while traveling in our ACE. This takes care of a lot of the road rattle coming from the door.

I recently replaced the gas prop on my door. Initially, I purchased an 80lbs prop because I could not read the numbers on the old worn-out prop. Well, that made the door extremely hard to close. I replaced the 80lbs prop with a 20lbs prop and all is well. DW is happy again, she did not like slamming the door.

Remove the cylinder and see how the door closes. If OK without the cylinder then you can look at replacing the cylinder.

Thanks - main door fits tightly; there's a good bit of play in the screen door.
