Wink Axxera Back up Camera not clear

I own a 2017 Thor Synergy SP24 with an Axxera AV615BHM radio. When backing up it switches to the rear camera. Or, the radio allows me to switch to camera. The rear camera picture has always shown as over exposed and so there is no clarity. I don't see where you can adjust the camera. Do I need to bring into dealer to see if it is a bad camera?

Have you checked if the camera lens is clean? Do you have side cameras, if so how’s their picture?

Maybe take the protective plastic cling piece off the lens?

We had the same issue. On a closer look we discovered there was a piece of protective film over the lens. Once that was removed the picture improved immensely.

Axxera Radio AV615BHM

Thanks for pointing out that plastic film may be on it. I checked and didn't see a plastic film on it. I have owned the vehicle for a couple of years, most of which I have spent in a hot dry climate. Perhaps the film was never removed and it melted. ?? I cleaned the lens with clean water and soft cloth. It seemed to improve somewhat. Generally, when it is sunny, the screen visibility is poor, whether on radio or back up camera. Is this normal for this unit?

Yep, when sun is directly on my backup camera image is not sharp.

Several of us have installed separate, larger monitors. That cleared mine up substantially. Plus, you can listen to the radio and watch your towed/ backside at the same time.

Cameras only a few years old are no longer cutting edge and will "flair" when a bright light hits them, like the sun. Newer cameras take care of this somewhat.

There is a menu that lets you adjust brightness on the axxera.
My fix was to replace it with a pioneer radio.
Same camera, better picture.

Cost of new camera

I saw camera's on Amazon for $160 that are wireless and solar. What did you get and what did it cost?
